You could buy a keystroke logger which records exactly what is typed and hook that up to the keyboard port (there is also software that does the same thing). Or you could just ask her.
I don't like snooping on other peoples business but if she's very young I suppose it might be appropriate.

Thank you for being a parent and watching what your daughter does on-line. To get a yahoo password, you need to answer her security questions. Usually it is something pretty easy if you think about it, pets names, best friends names, actors or musicians that they like. Then yahoo will reset the password. If you can not get it that way, then you need to have her give it to you. REMEMBER, YOU are the parent. YOU are responsible for EVERYTHING that your daughter (son if you have a son) does. Their safety is important, and NO children do not make the best choices. I am sure that LOTS of children on here will be upset that another parent is standing up for you and helping, but remember, HER SAFETY is the most important thing.
It is better to have a child safe, mad, screaming and throwing tantrums because you invaded their so called privacy then to have a child missing, dead, or abused by people on the Internet. The Internet is a breeding ground for sexual predators. Please be safe and monitor your children.

please you wont win any kwl dad of the yr awards if u go pryin

Use a key logger program. Every key typed is recorded, but that kind of dishonest, and will violate your young daughter privacy. If I were you. I would setup guidelines with your daughter were you are allowed to see your daughter discussion, or she can not use the program. It very simple and establishes a line your daughter will not cross.

There are lots of technical solutions to this problem, but unless
your daughter is dead/incapacitated and there is some critical
information associated with the account ... you should simply
ask your daughter to see what she's got going on here.
If she refuses, then simply remove her access to the computer.
You are the parent - you are not the local stalker using
devious means to outsmart your victim.

There is no such thing as privacy while a child lives under your roof.
You have every right to check up on what she is doing on the computer and in her life. That is your job. It isn't the parent's job to be their child's friend. If that means tapping phone lines, checking in underwear drawers or monitoring activity on Internet to keep him/her safe and on the right track then that is what you do

The best thing to do is ask for it and if she fails to give it her...ground her from the computer. Rule at our house is we have a list of all websites with password. Failure to give us changes results in loosing time on the computer.

Unfortunately, the only answer I have for you comes in the form of another question--why won't parents let their kids screw up, instead of sugar-coating everything? Let the kid do something stupid, and warn her about the dangers of the Internet; any harm that comes her way is her fault, and hers alone. She'll know better next time.

Get a key logger. It records every word typed on teh keyboard and sends the log file wherever you want. Simple to use and best way to get what you want.
