If you just began Atkins you are suppose to feel ill right at first. Most people don't get that. Your body is withdrawing from all the bad junk you have been putting in it. In a couple of days staying with just 20 carbs you will feel great and have tons of energy. After two weeks you can slowly increase the carbs until you find your personal level, Where you are still losing weight. If you stop losing weight then cut back on the carbs. Never go under 20 though.
This feeling ill is very temporary.

Yes, but you have to keep an eye on fat content and calories and such! It is much healthier to lose weight this way! It takes a little longer, but it stays off better. I have lost 36 pounds in 3 1/2 months. Its a little more than two pounds a week, so its not drastic, but it is a lot easier than anything else I have tried. I still "cheat" sometimes, too, but that actually helps to keep me on track! DO IT! I stuck to 150-200 carbs, less than 35 grams of fat and about 1800 calories. I pretty much ate what I wanted, I just "accomadated" for it later in the day!

I recommend getting on a eating program that you can do for the rest of your life and get results. You can also lose weight eating 5-6 whole food meals everyday consisting of a protein, carbohydrate, and vegetable/fruit. To keep my body fit, I perform 30 minutes of bodyweight exercises 5-6 days every week and eat 3 whole food meals and drink 2-3 protein shakes daily. Exercise, healthy eating, and supplementation (taking a quality multivitamin) have become a part of my lifestyle that I do without thinking (habits) and have never experienced any ill effects. Lose weight instead by doing now what you can continue to do for 20, 30, 40, and 50 years from now.
Enjoy your results,

Definitely. 1 gm of carb is 4 calories. 150 carbs is 600 calories and if your diet is say 1200 calories, that is still only 50% of your daily calorie intake. That range - 45-55% - is a very healthy way to lose weight. Don't go extremes to reduce carbs to less than 50 gms.

The Zone Diet recommends 27 gram - 36 grams of low glycemic carbohydrate per meal and 9 grams of low glycemic carbohydrate at each of 3 in between meal snacks. This is in addition to 21 - 28 grams of protein per meal. Oh, 28 grams equal one ounce.
Don't forget your 64 ounces of water a day.
