I have severe PMS which causes depression especially around my cycle. I feel really tired and suicidal during one week a month it seems. Since I have been on Prozzac things have been a lot better.

I've suffered from Major Depression since I was about 6 years old. I also have borderline personality disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), dissociative disorder not otherwise specified (DDNOS) and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Not fun :( I've been on many many medications and have been hospitalized 9 times in the past year and a half. Nothing has been of very much help, but the meds I am on now have helped a little bit.

I live with depression of one sort or another each day. I am not necessarily the one depressed, my husband is bi-polar and my 12 year old son is suffering from severe depression with many hospalizations for each.
The main thing to remember is that depression not only affects you but also the people that you care about and are close to you and the situation.

I was diagnosed years ago with major clinical depression recurrent/moderate. I still battle with it...it's off and on. Right now I am on St. John's Wort and I take vitamin B12 everyday. It does help...maybe not as much as some of the anti-depressants I have been on, but there were so many side-effects with those that I would almost rather be depressed, lol.

Have had it for years, tried my best to go it alone, what a dumb thing to do! Depression hurts mentally and causes medical problems as well, not to mention how isolated I felt and how it not only hurt me, but all those who cared about me. I finnally woke up from my pity party and took myself to a dr. best thing I ever did! Hell depression still hits now and then, but with my meds and my knowledge I am now in control. Life is hard ,stress levels in our society have increased ,depression finnally gets addressed and mental health is no longer a dirty word or a issue swept unde the rug. Many years back people were put away for even pms, we came along way BABY as they say!

Everyone does, to a degree. It's all about dealing with it. Those who know how to deal with downers learn to enjoy life despite its ups and downs. Some of us take medication to help us to do that, and some are successful. Some of us stay down no matter what we try because we fill unfulfilled. In time and will work, that can get better too. At least we hope so.
