Just be polite about it. Approach them alone and let them know you'd like to discuss something a little private. Just let them know that they have bad hygiene and you don't mean to be rude about it but it makes you feel uncomfortable around them. Let them know it can be anything, as simple as a different deodorant stick or different body wash. Suggest some nice colognes/perfumes you know about it. Explain how some really don't do the job because the lack on good ingredients. You just need to be really polite about it and it would help. If someone never approaches the person then they would never know. Lots of people become accustomed to their own smell and really don’t notice they smell bad. If no one tells them they can't make a change. It's also rude when you deal with someone how has bad hygiene it's the almost same thing as someone spitting as they speak. It's offensive and not a good impression. You just need to approach them in a kind and generous way, and you'll get results!

Also, if it's a co worker related situation, approach a supervisor or manager. If the person happens to be your supervisor or manager then approach your Human Resources department. They know how they can professionally let the employee know.

Depends how well you know this person and what your relationship is with them. It is never easy, but if it a good friend, just try saying so directly and simply, but as unoffensively as you can. If its someone you don't know well, then try subtle hints, and I mean very subtle hints. You could talk generally about hot it has been and you've had to take more showers and make sure you put on your deodorant and wash your clothes well. If you direct it at yourself, maybe this person won't take offense and pick up on the hint.

Option 1: Give them a bag containing soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, and a toothbrush. Tell them to use it.

Option 2: Tell them they smell like the urinal in a Portugese whorehouse.

They'll get the picture. I am sorry, there is no reason in the world to be dirty.

:) take them aside and give them some deodorant. No seriously, take them aside and tell them in a tactful way that they smell. That you were just concerned for them. Sometimes people don't realize how bad they smell.

If it's someone you work with, go to your supervisor or Human Resources. If it's a friend, start with gentle suggestions like "don't you want to freshen up before we take off?" If that doesn't work, try the "I'm sorry to have to say this but I'd want to know if it were me..."
