Walk down Canal Street in Chinatown and there will be asian women on the street saying "gucci gucci gucci" really fast... Tell them what you want to buy... if they have it they will lead you to it.

I have been lead down in dark basements, to storage rooms in closed little shops, etc.. this is normal. Generally they are filled from top to bottom with merchandise like this. You may barder with the people there... but don't be rude. Don't take too too long looking at things cause sometimes they get nervous.

This all sounds a lot more shady that it really is. I live in Manhattan and it's just the way it is... I know a ton of people who have done this... including myself.

Once you are wherever they take you don't be loud and act like you're shopping in a store... often times police are around Chinatown so if someone leads you somewhere don't look suspicious and don't be paranoid.

Ask shop owners too that look like they might be in on this sort of thing... often times when you show any interest in one of the "gucci gucci" ladies they just say "come with me" and start walking so you might not be able to ask them if they have what you're looking for.

It's easy to find knock-off or stolen purses (usually just good knock offs...) but clothes might be a little more difficult... again, ask store owners, be discrete, smart and don't make them nervous... realize what they are doing is illegal and if you don't want to be caught buying things from them imagine how much more they don't want to be caught selling this stuff.

Be smart, be safe and HAVE A GOOD TIME!

in most cases you aren't buying stolen merchandise per se. What you are buying is inexpensive merchandise that to all but the well trained eye looks like the real thing. The usual term is designer knock offs. One of my sisters has purchased several "Louis Vitton bags in this manner Chinatown is where much of this activity takes place. Just be careful and remember caveat emptor
