This question struck a nerve with me and they usually don’t.

So I ask, in the same verbiage as our curious Christian:

To propose a (perhaps ridiculous) situation: If you had to choose between the life of your dog whom you've had for 20 years and love dearly, or a gay man or lesbian, which would you choose and why? (Let's say they're both drowning and you only have time to save one.)

so they don't deserve to die, but conversly they dont' deserve to be married to the ones they love or saved from your fiery demons of hell?

I asked the original question, so I suppose I should answer yours:

I would do whatever my religion requires (on the side, I'm jewish).
That would be to save the person.
However, if it said save the dog, then I'd do that.

Now that isn't to imply that we don't respect human dignity or hold it sacred. If the answer was the dog, it would only be because the person deserved to die, not because dogs are of equal or greater value.

For example (this is just one which came to mind), when the jewish courts would execute someone they wouldn't let the body just lay out like trash. They would take the person and give him a proper burial and treat the body with respect.

Also, let me explain my rationale for my question: I've spent much of the last 2 years studying evolution. It has some strong evidence, but I'm not 100% convinced yet. I've noticed though, that evolution is often the rationale used by athiests to confirm/create their beliefs. As such, they often say the people are just another animal. so, my question was based on that. namely, if we're not just more than animals, would we be treated as such by atheists (since religious evolutionists would still have their religion to influence their answer). I didn't want to assume one way or the other so I asked. And as the answers I got show, many people would simply choose the dog. So, I think my question was certainly a valid one.

no offense was intended. I'm sure there are lots of nice and caring atheists.

This is late I know.

As a fundamental Christian myself the fact that said person is a homosexual does not make them any less of a person. It is against my faith to engage in homosexual relations and it is said that those who partake of unnatural things such as that should suffer.

Without a doubt I would save the gay or lesbian individual. The Bible says "love your neighbor as yourself" the gay or lesbian is my neighbor I'll save their life.

Furthermore, God determines whether or not they burn in hell and be subject to demons and torment. Do they deserve to be married - no - because this is a Jewish and Christian term that describes the union of a man and a woman. However, if they want to make up some other term to define their union, so be it. God will still have the final word.

I hope that I have not struck any nerves with you. I love you as Jesus instructs, seek sister, and keep seeking. This is the only way to develop faith.

I'd probably save the human. It's... well, a human. I see human life as more important than animal life. If there was any way to save both, I'd go for that, but if I absolutely had to choose, the human life. Just because they're gay, doesn't mean they deserve to die or be ignored...

I evaluate human life to be invaluable and unique so my answer is definite. Why? in all probability for a similar motives as you. Many factors of philosophy and ethics - alongside with the sanctity of human life - could be oftentimes held by utilising maximum knowledgeable and civilised human beings. An atheist rejects the life of gods and deities, no longer humanitarian values. in certainty, thinking the dying and destruction achieved contained in the call of religion i could say that we atheists carry life greater expensive. i contemplate whether they might get those stats from the subsequent Census? Who could I shop? the guy. Why? i could basically be following the Ethic of Reciprocity "Do onto others as you're able to wish them do onto you." i could decide directly to think of if i replaced into the drownee somebody could decide directly to maintain me fairly of their dogs. in case you're searching for extra info on How Atheists think of verify out the ingredients under...

I would save the gay man/lesbian, it wouldn't make any difference whatsoever what their sexual orientation is, I would save the human being before I would save a dog.

The person. Sure I'd feel awe full about my dog, but people have lives with people who love them, jobs, and children. (OK dogs can have that too, but you know what I mean) I'm not sure if dogs have souls, but humans are the only creatures that are made in God's image.
Jesus is love and God Bless

A dog doesn't have a soul. I would save the gay or lesbian.

That question got to me and I have pondered it before too. I have pets that I love dearly, would I sacrifice them for a person I don't know or a person I dislike?

I have to be honest, I don't know what I would do.

How sacred is human life?? VERY SACRED, if God sent His only Begotten Son Jesus to die for our sins we must be precious to Him.
