This would be a battle of some very clever ring tacticians with great boxing ability and ring saavy! Kid Gavilan fought a lot of great fighters in his career and was very tough and smart. Griffith fought guys like Monzon, Benvenuti, and Tiger and was always giving a good account of himself. I believe that Griffith was a little better defensively than Gavilan and would win a close decision. Good question!

Emile Griffith. I just think he would have been too strong. He was a very tough man even when he moved up to the middleweight division he still retained his skills. He was no push over and he fought alot of tough men. Emile by 15 round decision.

Emile Griffith in a 15 round split decision. It would be tactical fight. Both fighters would come out of the fight unmarked.
