This sounds like a video card problem. I would download the latest drivers for your card and install them.
If it is an onboard video processor (righ on the motherboard), you might need to go and purchase a quality board for these games and videos.

Odds are your video card got damaged somehow. Perhaps it overheated or there's a speck of dust causing a short circuit. There's no other reason why these events would be related.
It could also be related to Hardware Acceleration. You can partially or completely disable Hardware Acceleration to see if that's the problem. To do this...
Start Menu, goto the Control Panal. Goto Appearance and Themes and click the icon. A window will pop up. The far right tab should be labeled Settings. Click it. At the bottom of the window there will be a button labeled Advanced. Click it. A new window should pop up. Find the Troubleshoot tab. There will be a slider for Hardware Acceleration. Follow the on-screen directions.
I should warn you that you lose a lot of computer power by lowering this slider, but in some cases it is the only way to get added stability. Try it.

I place my bet that you have a video card problem. Try reinstalling the drivers or change the card. If you still have the same problems try swapping the sound card, Ram, HDD, even the mobo. You will then know what component is the broken one. If you don't have the time or the spare parts to do this, then it may be a time for a new computer.

The problem is that you need more ram. make sure that you are running your anti virus software on a regular basis and that your system is free of spyware. you could have a bug. go to install programs and see what all you have downloaded. you might still have a lot of stuff on your hard drive that you thought was gone. Delete and restart and this should help you out.

This sounds like a video driver issue.
The video driver is a set of instructions that tells the screen what to display. If the driver is older, it may not be able to keep up with the latest software demands.
To find out, RIGHT CLICK the MY COMPUTER icon. Select PROPERTIES. For most versions of Windows, click the tab marked DEVICE MANAGER. (For Windows XP, click the tab marked HARDWARE, and then the button marked DEVICE MANAGER.)
Scroll down the list until you see VIDEO ADAPTER. Click the plus sign next to it. A new line of text will appear. Click that line of text. Click the tab marked DRIVER. Check the date.
Next, go to the website where your video adapter was made (www.radeon.com , www.s3.com , etc) and locate the latest driver they have available for download. Compare the date with your adaptor.
If theirs is newer, download and install it.

You need more ram and more memory 10 gb isn't gonna cut it. You may also have a virus. Get Norton Anti-Virus I wouldn't have a working computer without it!

i have a system with 256mb ram and 10gb of free memory *****
you cannot have 256MB Ram with 10GB free, impossible. what it sounds like is that you have 256 Ram ( which is not enough for most movies or games nowadays. Upgrade your memory to 512MB or Higher). Good Luck
You cannot have a MB Ram with Gigabyte memory, it's MB for MB and GB for GB....
