Why would you feed him if he's not hungry?
If he is not having a growth spurt, he is likely not as hungry as you might think. Once he has a growth spurt, he will require and eat more.
He sounds like a healthy normal 8 month old to me.

Did you know that milk has more calories than solid foods per ounce? I just read that in a parents magazine today!
My baby likes to eat solids he can pick up (he just turned 8months and has been crawling for a month). He doesn't sleep all that great. All he wants to do is explore and crawl and harrass his older brother and sister. Life is just to good to sleep. Your baby might feel the same way about eating!!!

He just wants to spend time doing his new thing! I would keep meal time very regular strap him in, offer the food, if he's not hungry let him out. The hard part is not to feed him anything out of the high chair! Including bottles. He is not going to starve himself to death. He might get a little thinner for awhile but that's okay. Your pediatrician will be able to warn you at his 12 month check up if he's not eating enough.

Well if he is strapped in the high chair, he cant crawl. And he should be hungry now that he is very active.

you need to play with him and get his attention. sit him down and feed him. A lot of babies tend to stop eating when they start to crawl and walk because they want to explore the whole house.

i agree w/ fierce. You have to sit them down during their eating times and snack times to cue them into whats next! There is time enough for everything. my baby is 12 mos and has always been soo food focused..but they do decrease their eating afte the first year! up til 12 mos they are growing so rapidly that every meal and their formula is VERY needed for healthy development!

Put him in a highchair or on your lap that way he can't crawl. He'll be frustrated at first that he can't get down and move around, but once he starts eating he'll be fine.

my kid was the same, but only for a few days. all that new motion (crawling) and energy being used up finally got to her, and she started eating more than before. if you are worried, contact your doctor.
