I would if I knew for a fact they were illegal, I have to work with the Department of Immigration every day so shouldn't be a problem, but then I have seen lots of legal immigrants and very very few illegal immigrants here in Northern Virginia that I know of.

Immigration is not illegal. Its coming here and NOT doing it legally that gets my goat! God forbid I break a law here and they will throw the book at me. If I knew for certain they were illegal....yes. Would it do any good? probably not! And to the person up a couple of posts.....it does't matter if they didn't have forms to sign in the 1700's. We are now a recognized governing body and the laws are in place for a reason. If anyone has a reason to complain then I do and my ancestors.I am American Indian!

I wouldn't cause the fact that most if not all of us in the United States had an ancestor that immigrated here at one point or another mine came here in 1668 , so why should I say that now in 2006 immigrantion is illegal ? I wonder what forms they were signing back in the 1700's to be allowed to stay here ? And no my family was not a slave or indentured servent.

Honestly?

I would report those who broke a law that by their single violation impacted my quality of life acutely. For example I see people post that neighbors are living 3 families to a house and have outrageously multiple cars and floodlights and livestock in a single family neighborhood, and I assure you if that happened next door to me I would call the health department and zoning inspectors in a heartbeat.

However, where I come out is that in the end we won't deport the good sort, so I sort of see those here that are caught now as being just unlucky, or the bad sort, including knowing employers. (I think we can get mass deportations enough to make anyone happy out of the bad sort, based on Homeland Security estimates.)

So right now, I don't happen to know any, but wouldn't search it out, either.

Going forward when the dust settles, I think enforcement will need to be routine, however.

I pass them in a group next to Home Depot all the time. The city knows they are there. Immigration knows they are there. Nobody will do anything if I do report. I called in to report taggers. The police were "well what are we supposed to do?"

I have & I would again, if It made a difference. But I know someone who's citizenship was denied & received a letter of deportation for him, his wife & their 2 kids. he purchased one-way tickets back to his country & sent copies in to INS but never left. They are still here, are part owners of a business & still not paying taxes. And what is worse, his wife's parents are in this country legally, never worked a day in this country & are receiving Social Security........

Yes!

It is my duty as an American citizen to report any illegal activity that occurs in my presence.

Never would, but I do like to poke fun at the ones I know personally and tell them I will call INS if they don't give me what I want or I answer the phone pretending to be the INS. They find it pretty funny.
