Dry onion soup mix is good.
Another option is an envelop of Hidden Valley ranch dressing mix. If you want cheeseburgers add one package ranch dressing mix and about one cup of shredded cheese to one pound of ground beef, chicken, or turkey. I love the ranch cheeseburgers.
I like to sprinkle mine with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. If I don't use one of the mixes above I usually add chopped onions.

Place chopped onions in the burger.
Find a teriyaki sauce for beef.
Look for spices for grilling beef.
If cooking on the grill, do not use lean beef. This is something not too well known but Burger King uses high fat beef for its burgers than other fast food places.
Because the burgers are exposed to the open flame,it needs the high fat/water content to keep the patties moist when there done.
Having more fat than others makes them taste better also.Don't flatten the patty with the spatula.Since alot of homemade burgers are rather large, this would make it more likely for the patty to fall apart when turning them over.

Use a variety of spices - no kidding! Mix a teaspoonful of ground cayenne into a pound of ground beef and make your patties out of that mix. You might try a variety of different commercial barbecue sauces - mix 'em in or just pour 'em on top as the burgers cook. I like to mix a couple tablespoonsful of A-1 Bold (brand) steak sauce into a pound of lean ground beef. That fires it up nicely! Hey, hon, experiment - literally, the sky's the limit! I do find that, the simpler, the better is the way to go.

Forget the onion soup mix....Ewwwwhhhh! Add a pack of Hidden Valley Ranch (dry) Ranch dressing to the meat, then add an egg, then a little ketchup and some hamburger seasoning salt (made by McCormick's). Mix all the ingredients up, make your patties for the grill and you will have some kick @$$ hamburgers dude! :-)

Here are some ideas:
Grill it along some pineapple (in circles) and place it on the burger (under the bread obviously)
Place it in a marinade a night earlier, the marinade made of: teriyaki sauce, orange flavored soda, dehydrated orange zest and a bit of english sauce.
Add some blue cheese sauce after you have grilled it.

I like to crush a garlic clove, and add oregano, basil or just italian seasoning. Mix this up with the ground beef, then let it sit in the fridge for a couple of hours. Make up the patties and enjoy!

Chillies in the burger mix is good, but hard to control.
Chillies in the mayo is ace!
Or just spread some Indian lime pickle on the burgers after they are cooked. Everything tastes good with chillies or lime pickle!

Add a package of onion soup mix.
Or some BBQ sauce or Worcestershire sauce.
Or some cracked pepper and garlic.
Depends what you like. I like the onion soup mix with the pepper and garlic.
Enjoy!

I like chopped onions and even chopped green peppers or fresh mushrooms sometimes. I often put in beef oxo or other bullion powder. Garlic powder is good. And one of my all time fav's is horseradish, or shrimp cocktail sauce....(either as a condiment or mixed right into the burger mix)...mmmmmm! delish! Good luck cooking!
