Before Christ, there were other Manifestations of God on Earth. (Some religions call them Messengers of God, Baha'is call them Manifestations of God.) They were, but are not limited to: Adam, Noah, Lot, David, Joseph, Abraham, Moses, Buddah, Krishna, Hud, Salih, etc. There were many. Each brought a religious dispensation unfolded over time, and collectively they were all God's religion. The unfolding continued, and does now, and always will. Each unfolding brings a new religious dispensation... Abrahamic, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Christianity, Muslim, Baha'i, and others I can't think of.
Jesus was one in a line of Manifestations of God. God has never abandoned His creation, He has always provided us with a Manifestation. EACH Manifestaion is "the way, the truth, and the life" for those people at that time, until the advent of the next Manifestation. That is why all Manifestations say that the way to God is through them. They are all right, each for his own era.
What happened to people before Jesus? They followed their Manifestation's teachings, and were connected to God through their Manifestations. THEY WERE NOT LOST. EVER. God never abandons us.

Generally, people are judged according to their works. According to conscience & land laws. Their fate will be determined at The Great White Throne Judgement when those whose names are not written in the book of life are thrown into the Lake of Fire.
For Israel before Christ, the righteous were in Abraham's bosom, paradise, & went to heaven (paradise) when Christ raised from the dead.
Jesus died for remission of our sins & the sins of the whole world. Without the shedding of sinless blood, there is no remission of sins. Before Jesus Christ, it was the spotless animal that was sacrificed by the High Priest for the sins of the people.
The promised Saviour promised since the foundation. (In Genesis, He is the seed of the woman.) People's sins separate them from God & they resist God's truth.
God loves you sooooooo much that He sent His Only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but will have everlasting life.

There was no Christianity before Christ. In fact the old testament is a distillation of the Torah and does not apply to the modern Christian belief. The only portion of the bible that applies is the New Testament. One is before his birth, the other after. Either way it's all a crock anyway.

I think the sins create a bed energy around we and in the Univers, which will bring the death of the soul.
Jesus Christ was suffering for all sins of menkind, past, present and future.
Our God Father loves us such much, that He comes on the earth in His Son and let to be humbled without causer, such His sufferings created a lot of good energy which can annihilate the bed energy and have opened the Heaven for mens.
We can use that gift of God,(we can get the annihilate of the bed which is around we because of our sins)if we believ in Jesus Christ and go to church to ask for forgiveness for our sins .
The good people who (belief in God)which died and who lived before Jesus, was staying in a place(limb),until Jesus goes from them and takes them in the Heaven, which Jesus, after his sufferings ,has opened.
In the time from Jesus death and the time of Jesus Resurection, Jesus works in invizible for the goodness of menkind. We can't understand all now.Read more on www.jnsr.be/ God Bless you.

i have often wondered the same thing. i think that if those people acknowledge a greater being they will go to heaven. the people like Moses and Abraham and David sacrificed animals to God to have their sins forgiven. this is how they got to heaven.
i don't know why there's not any info about this in the bible. the people who wrote the bible wrote what God told them to write. so only God knows why we can't know these things.

The fate of those who left this mortal world befor Christ's Sacrifice is the same as is the fate of all in this mortal world today... Come to God in The Way He proscribes and receive His free gift of Salvation.... or reject God's offer and suffer the consequences.... God's offer has not changed from The Begining.

ok first of all, all the prophets were sinners...so yes Jesus died for their sins and are going to be resurrected in the resurrection time....
second, the messenger of God like Moses and Abraham, and David, were part of God's purpose to bring attention to the Saviour, the Annointed one, the Messiah, to Jesus Christ as the Son of God and as the One we need to have faith to be able to get forgiveness from God for our sins, and not only that, also to be able to survive at the end of these days, when Harmagedon comes, and to be able to live forever on earth converted into a paradise to live for eternaty thanks to Jesus Christ....since 1914, Jesus Christ has become King of God's kingdom in heavens, and soon he will act as the Saviour of all humankind...write back at israelmoya20@yahoo.com

Those that believed that a Savior would come, went to the side of hell next to the wall of heaven to wait. When Christ died he went to Hell!
Those who waited for him and there accepted him were washed clean of there sins and entered heaven!
That side of hell is now empty (the lap of Abraham) and only the side across the gulf still has them that are still likely to die.

As for the people that lived before Christ, they will be baptized for the dead in the temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). God is merciful and will give all his children the chance to accept Christ.

The way it was explained to me is that those who believed that a savior was coming would be saved after his coming. Those that did not would not be. It's kind of one of those questions like where is heaven and how big is it. Nobody knows these things until after they die.
