I know there is a jeweler called Hoff Jewelers that does payments- i believe direct withdraws from your checking account. You can give them a try!

I think $2,500 is a good amount...but you really can't get high quality diamonds. But, it doesn't really matter...you don't need a flawless diamond anyways. My husband spent 2,500 on my rings and they are rated SI (slight inclusions) and H for color. It still sparkles brilliantly.

He surprised me with my ring...but, he has good taste. I would try to find out what she wants...she might be a classic girl and want a solitaire...or she may want something that is more old fashioned looking. Maybe you could have her friend take her into a jewelery store and try on rings for fun...that way you could get an idea of what she likes...and still keep popping the question a secret.

We bought our rings from http://www.reeds.com/
Well, we have a Reeds store here...but you can buy the ring you like online...they also have an option to build your own engagment ring.

Hope it all works out for you!

I don't know about paying for it, but as for selecting, it's good to let her have some imput. Whether that just means seeing one on a commercial on tv and saying "do you like that style? I think it's _____" and noting her reaction, or asking her what kind of ring she would like...the proposal would still be a surprise. Besides, if you're in a place in a relationship where you're considering marriage, then it's probably not a surprise to her that you're looking for a ring, right?

$2,500 isn't going to get you vary far... your not going to be able to design to much.. Engagement rings are pretty standard unless your going to spend alot. Check out BlueNile.com - you can play around on the internet and design a ring and get price ideas. Also Ebay has some really great deal on it. I would find out what type of ring she wants- you should ask her to go look at rings. Yes, it takes a little surprise out of it but at least she will get what she really really wants. I have an oval stone and my FI would have never known to get my an oval stone without me going with him. My hands are very small and long so I didn't want a plain round ring.

Marriage is not about how much you spend. My engagement ring that my husband gave me 10 years ago was $400. I love my diamond solitaire ring and would not trade it for anything in the world. A large ring is tacky and gaudy. Do NOT go into your marriage in debt over a ring. Love and the relationship is what really matters. Not material things.

i'm not sure of places in texas, but i do know that Zales has a design your own ring option. As far as payments go, they might have a payment plan, if not i know there is a credit card.

Your should ask her. She has to wear it for the rest of her life.
Just tell her what you can afford and she'll take care of the rest and be vey happy with it. Surprising a woman with a ring is what they do on TV...in reality it is best to be thoughtful and give her the choice.
