Always, always finish antibiotics. The way bacteria build up immunity to them is that people don't finish them. As far as going back to the gym, talk to your Dr. He will prob. tell you to just to take it easy if you do go back.

Finish your antibiotics of course but I don't think that's what you're asking. If you feel well whilst you are still finishing the course do some light exercise at home but don't go to the gym, you will be too tempted to push yourself hard in that environment. When you have finished your course of antibiotics and do go to the gym, take it easy and build up to the level you were at before gradually.

If you don't finish a course of antibiotics then you may not completely erradicate the infection. The bacteria will start to re-establish themselves only this time they may be able to develop a resistance to the antibiotic, so another course of the same antibiotic will have no effect. You could then pass the resistant infection on to someone else who will also not be able to treat the infection with that antibiotic.

You must always finish a course of antibiotics. To finish early can severly weaken the effectiveness of them the next time you need them.
You should perhaps think about alternative therapies in the future if you want to avoid antibiotics.
You also should consider your friends and not passing any infection to them by going back to the gym too early.

smellyteddy says yes you should untill you have finished your antibiotics do not go to the gym as your chest infection may not have completly cleared n you could colapse short of breath or something so it is safer to wait till your corse of antibiotics has finished.

Actually, as long as you keep taking the tablets, you can go back whenever you feel fit enough. Most of the infection is probably gone, but you need to finish the tablets to kill off the remaining few. Just don't over do things- light exercise, stop if you feel tired or breathless.

You MUST finish your antibiotics.
And you shouldn't be going back to a gym with your chest infection not fully recovered?

Always finish your antibiotics, but gym workouts can help you recover faster as well. When your symptoms ease up, go for a lite workout, and see how that feels
