Never made it to Iraq, but I was in Viet Nam twice, and in Korea and in Turkey for Northern Watch. Yes, we should have troops in Iraq. If for no other reason, if we pull out now, then everyone who died in Iraq died for nothing. Just like all my close friends who died in Viet Nam died for nothing because the government pulled out without victory. I would hate for the military people now there to have died for nothing again.

There are two answers to your question,
Should the US keep it's troops in Iraq in the near and distant future:
Absolutely. You went in and removed theburocracy that kept the country running smoothly, to withdraw now would ensure not only the collapse of Iraq as a country, but the suffering of many innocnet people as the different factions squabble over power.
Should the US have gone into Iraq in the first place:
No. Since the reason given for going in was the presence of "Weapons of mass destruction" which have not been found with much digging by some very interested parties, then either the intelligence it was founded on was wrong, and the means of verifying that intelligence broke down, or the weapons of mass destruction were a flimsy excuse given so that a country could be invaded without retalliation from the UN.

No, Many of us were not fooled by the WMD and terrorism claims that have now been proven false.
I feel sorry for the soldiers that have to fight in Iraq because I think they were sent there needlessly, and that their presence in Iraq has made the us less safe here at home. I have heard the stories about what their families are going through and for what?
I wish they never had to go and I did everything in my power to convice my represenatives not to authorize this action because I felt it was unnecessary and too expensive and might make things worse.
I respect anyone who will put their life on the line for a good cause, I wish this was a good cause, I really do, but the reality of the situation is impossible to ignore. When I saw the thousands of Shia marching on Bagdad chanting "Death to America" this weekend, that was confirmation of what I thought and feared was true.

Many U.S. officials in Baghdad and in Washington privately concede the point. They say they've been forced to shuffle U.S. units from one part of the country to another for at least two years because there haven't been enough soldiers and Marines to deal simultaneously with Sunni Muslim insurgents and Shiite militias; train Iraqi forces; and secure roads, power lines, border crossings and ammunition dumps.Almost no high-ranking, active-duty U.S. officers are willing to discuss their concerns about troop levels publicly, for fear of being reprimanded or having their careers cut short. There's an unwritten understanding, they said, that the Bush administration doesn't want to hear about the need for more troops."They're not allowed to ask for more troops," the U.S. defense official in Iraq said. "If you say something you're gone, you're relieved, you're not in the Army anymore."
A number of senior military officials in the United States agreed.

No, it is a quagmire. The US is helpless if you have insurgents still shelling police stations and killing more than a couple civilians each day.
