I'm pretty sure these people were illegal and i got they're temp tag number because they abandoned their car. my question is are these people gonna pay for the damages if the police find them because the only type of insurance i have is if i hit another car? any suggestions?

Report it to your insurance company. Each state is different, but many provide uninsured motorist coverage for hit and runs. The requirements (like having a police report, etc.) very by state. If they have the tag number, they will run it, but if they don't find anyone or the other person has no insurance, you could have an uninsured motorist claim. Again, ask your insurance company. You're required by your contract to report the claim to them anyway, and they can tell you what coverages you are eligible for. Don't be surprised though, there are some states that do not provide that coverage.

If they can track the people down off the tag number, they can get their insurance to pay. But with the way you describe thigs I'll bet they don't have insurance. The only way you'll get money of any sort is if your local police have a victim's assistance fund.

Hit and runs are a crime. Also they were very dumb because people can claim any injuries or damages since they're not there. However, immediate repair cost are up to you. Hope you had uninsured motorist coverage !

Check with your insurance agent or policy. You may have uninsured motorist coverage too, that's fairly standard. This would cover your damages.
