We have been doing "experiences" lately for birthdays instead of a "thing" gift. All the family members pitch in together to get the person an "experience of a lifetime". This last March for my husband's 30th, we all pitched in and bought him a dogfight flight in a WWII plane (he is an airplane enthousiast). Last year on my birthday, they all pitched in and got me a "Trainer for a Day" at Sea World, where I got to swim with the dolphins (my fav animal). Think of something your husband is really into... baseball, hockey, airplanes, etc, and find something he can DO for his birthday instead of GET. Believe me, it makes a much better and more memorable gift.

The following items were a big hit with my husband, he's one big spoiled brat, well, so am I, but anyway:
1. Xm Radio with 1 year contract 99 bucks for the xm radio by audio vox, and 12 dollars a month for the contract, plus they had a cool rebate at the time, buy the xm radio receiver (99 bucks) and they send you a free roady (lesser cost) for free! So I got one too!
2. IPOD- I got him that this year and he loves it, plus I got him the case to hold it in so that it doesn't get scratched, I hear they do really easily, and a Belkin wireless fm transmitter, so he can hear his music from the ipod in his car from his radio.
3. Radar detector: I bought him this for Christmas actually and he loves it because it regulates his speed when he needs it. The only time this didn't help was in Phoenix, they have photo enforced speed limits and the radar detector didn't detect the radar above us on the over pass grrr. Anyway, he still likes it.
4. Stereo speakers for his computer. My hubby loves the sound emitted through the speakers I got him, Cyber Acoustics.

A memorable experience eg a bungee jump or a hot air balloon ride.
Or a gadget to keep him occupied eg an iPod or a new tool.

Take a weekend away, let grandma watch the kids, go somewhere new, have fun, eat great food, drink nice wine, and become his mistress for the weekend.
