i think they do.. because we are all human, and have made mistakes. i haven't done any crimes necessarily..but what if i grew up in a terrible home, w/ no love, no friends, no one to teach me right and wrong. i'm not a bad person, but i am acting and reacting the only way i know how. i believe i deserve a chance to change. but if i don't change, and i continue the way i do consciously, even after being aware that there are other ways, then i will be subject to punishment which is jail, etc. i think that is why we have sentences where people serve, and get out. and other people get life sentences, or death penalty, because of the severity of their crimes..... there's always a chance for rehabilitation, but if that person doesn't try, it's less likely that it will happen.

I'm afraid so, even though it pains me to say that! The thing is......you are given a sentence, and once you serve it, supposedly you are able to go back to society. That's the law. And, in case they weren't REALLY guilty, wrongfully accused, then that's a good thing.
You won't stop crime by putting everyone away, because every day new bad people are created.

Depends how BAD they were...If someone killed your mother would you give them a second chance?
