I want to do something different, no characters! Her b-day is in November so I was thinking maybe a Thanksgiving/Autumn Harvest theme. But I'm very confused about it. Open to all ideas. Thanks in advance!

I'm having a circus theme for her brothers 2nd, I just thought, you know, something different would be nice, and probably not so expensive.

My daughter is about to turn six in october and we are looking at a number of ideas, A small carnival theme (you can get cheap games through oriental trading company), bowling, a princess party, an ice cream party like from Farrells in the 80's-A big huge bowl filled with the works! Another idea is a craft party, we went to one a few years ago and it was great, the kids all got to take something home with them that they could treasure, the one we went to was just foam door hangers but you could do any craft really again Oriental trading company has crafts you can buy all the kits in bulk for really cheap. You might want to do a sleep over, The first sleep over in a girls life is the best and most memorable. Last but not least is to add a pinata (I'd look for the pull string style for 5 year olds)

Good Luck!

Your daughter's going to be 5, she'll have some definite ideas about this one, I'd ask her. And, I hate to say it, it will more than likely involve characters. I'm sorry, but I see the Thanksgiving/Autumn theme bombing BIG time with a bunch of 5 year old girls.

Ask her what she likes. Since you don't want any characters, then make a theme of whatever she chooses (eg animals, pirates, flowers, dolls, cowgirls, etc). Thanksgiving/Autumn Harvest sounds good, however I'm sure there will be something else your daughter will enjoy more! Good luck!

Say your daughter is named Olivia, then the theme could be Olivia-Land! Hold it in your backyard if it's large enough, or in a nearby park. If your daughter really loves unicorns, set up a unicorn petting zoo with stuffed animals in a makeshift chicken-wire pen. (No supervision specifically needed for this activity.) Say she loves baseball, set up a mini diamond and play a short game with the parents as referees. The team who wins gets their cake first! She loves the color purple? Make a Purple Play Place with non-messy craft ideas - purple stickers to decorate each guests' purple party favor bag, or stick-on purple tattoos that don't require water to apply (and thankfully peel off in the bathtub). Maybe your daughter really loves a special book. Leave out extra copies of her favorite story (bought for cheap at a second-hand bookstore) and dress up clothes so she and her friends can act out their favorite scenes. She really loves astrology? Cut simple PB&J sanwiches out with a star cookie cutter to serve as a snack, and serve blue KoolAid as "Moon Juice." The great thing about having an Olivia-Land (or whatever her name is) is that you don't have to stick to one theme. You can incorporate a lot of her interests into one party. Also, a lot of great party favors and decorations can be purchased for cheap through Oriental Trading Company or a local dollar store, since you don't have to have all the same theme, stuff doesn't have to match! (Tell the guests to take decorations home with them! It aids a lot with cleanup!) And here's the lifesaver: designate a semi-central area called the "Parents' Resting Ground" with lawn chairs or picnic table benches and some thermoses of coffee so that parents can commune and relax while (kind of) keeping an eye on their kids. And if your daughter fancies herself a princess, let her be the Queen Of The Land and wear a tiara and princess dress over her clothes. It is *her* world for the day, you know.
Have fun, and Happy Birthday!

What Up? Damnz you can have like a game where kids can sit on balloons and other kid games like that. So that way they can have a good time, then win prizes...but since they are young it can be something simple. After that some cake or a Piñata will do lol, peace

We did a restaurant parties for our girls' fifth birthdays. They are nice and short (perfect for that age group) not to mention easy. You could get tableware and treat bag items to go along with the season or whatever you'd like.

why not just have a simple party...food she likes, people she likes, playing simple games like hide and seek or make leaf collages or race to see who makes the tallest pile of leaves or make their own sweets etc etc....she's five years old, just a very wee girl...simple things are much better and leave the best memories not least cos her mummy will be less stressed lol

We're having a bowling party for my step daughter's 5th. You may not want to do all of that though.
