I think it remains to be seen... probably the greatest impact was the dropping of the a-bomb on Japan. The environmental impact was quite significant, but it seems the human impact (birth defects, etc.) was more severe.

Depends on what is used. Believe me you rather ask yourself how soon Earth environment will allow only cockroach to live on its surface. I am not thinking of wars. Developed countries life style is full of polluting chemicals and production. I have something special for You. Tell me how electrical energy is produced for hybrid cars in percent of all electrical energy production. We are ling ourselves. How many planes flies now on sky? How dangerous suns rays are now and will be next year?

Quite a lot. Just imagine if WW1 WW2 Vietnam and many other wars didn't happen, the climate would be much more stable
