1. Originally, it was to find and destroy the weapons of mass destruction Saddam Hussein had amassed.
2. But when no WMDs were found, the reason we were given is that we were liberating the Iraqi people from a tyrant.
3. Now that we've liberated the Iraqis from a tyrant, we're told that we're there to build a democracy.
4. We're still trying to build that democracy, but the country has deteriorated to a civil war which is what were told at the outset would be the "worst-case scenario" and we would have to withdraw at that point.
5. Civil war? Troop withdrawal?

where have you been, in outer space. However your question requires a split answer.
The US Government version:
Securing the area for the stabilization of the mid east and bringing democracy to an oppressed people. Destroying the training grounds for the terrorist groups.
The Real version:
George senior hated Saddam so much that he sent his son to the White house, vowing to "git that sonofabeech". In the meantime see how much oil and pipeline rights you can get because me and my old Texas cronies need more cash. Oh and by the way, if you can get Dick's Haliburton a few good contracts, I would appreciate it.

To create the "right major crisis" the New World Order need to make the world accept it.
Bush is a "Skull and Bone" member, like Kerry. They both admited on live tv. I offer you some very valuable, reliable, informative material, make a investigation and you will see why I think like that. It took me the hell to get you those links, please, just don't treat this as a joke, or spam. It is serious. Do you know what is the Patriot Act is ?

Well, it si nice to know that you are finally getting interested in politics......but everyone here could have told you why we were there.....but there is like 10 reasons for being there.....I will give you a couple reasons......there was an assoication with Al-qaeda, and to free the oppressed.......there were other things, that people will tell you, and those reasons will probably be true....though their spin on it will probably be wrong.....

Ok, 9-11 happened, we followed the tracks to Afghanistan, which then unraveled that Saddam was aiding Osama, and had weapons of mass destruction.

Stephen Colbert: "THEY WON'T STOP ASKING ME!"
Some say it's for freedom. Others say it's for the war on terror. More say it's about oil. Bush's stance is Terror and Freedom.
Nobody knows.
