Darvocet is a pain killer Vicodin is not it is refured to as a blocker, Darvocet pretty much just numbs the nerous system for a while to easy the pain, with vicodin it gos to the brain that tell you where the pain is and blocks it so you are still in pain but do not feel it. That is why vicodin should never be taken for a migraine because when the drug wears off you are right at the hight of the mirgraine and in more pain than you were before. That is why vicodin is so additive, since it gos right to the brain and blocks what you are feeling, the brain can get to use to that and need it.

Darvocet - is Darvon and Tylenol - it is a mild pain reliver and narcotic.

Vicodin - Hydrocodone and Tylenol - It is a stronger pain reliever and Narcotic.

BOTH are Addictive. However there are differences in addictions and people need to be aware of that.

There is PHYSICAL addiction: That means your body is 'used to' the medicine and is 'addicted'. This means you can wean your body off and you 'don't miss it' emotionally. You aren't drinking in place of the medication or trying to 'score' something else because you need something in order to 'be ok'. Many MANY patients of chronic pain are on these medications WITHOUT becoming Addicts (the term most people use for the 2nd explaination below). I am one of them, and I was never an addict, but my body has been physically dependent. There is a difference, and please be respectful of that.

The standard rule for Addiction is that your body and MIND need the medication (or illegal drug) and you'll do ANYTHING to get a fix, take a diff med, or anything like that to try and get your hands on something to 'ease' withdrawl. Also you tend to take more and more of the medication WITHOUT your doctor's knowledge/consent.

Hope this helps :)

Vicoden is more high powered than Darvocet. Darvocet is just like taking aspirin. If you want something that really works, go for the Vicoden.

I've never had to take pain meds stronger than tylenol so I wouldn't personally know. A friend of mine has to alot though & according to him, darvocet is a slightly stronger pain med than vicodin.

they both use codiene as their main ingredient. in either drug there will be 5-15 milligrams of codiene and something like 300 milligrams of tylenol or aspirin or ibuprofen (Soma uses ibuprofen). the codiene in darvocet may be a semi-synthetic chemical, which means it would have been mixed with other things to make it act more strongly on the brain. both are relatively harmless, with the other ingredients (like aspirin or tylenol) doing more damage to the body (especially the liver) than the actual codiene. check the amount of actual codiene in the pill to determine strength rather than the total weight of the pill.

both for pain vicodan can be very very addicting. stay away from it. Go to a non narcotic if possible. Dosent take long to get addicted.I know I lost my 41 year old son 8-20-05 He thought he knew it all and he died from an overdose. vicodan was involved. It is so sad to watch your children kill them selves from drugs. they do not want to die. It is the addiction that kills.once you have got past the safe side it is very hard to make a comback. you are always searching for that better high. If anyone has never heard the song Drugs or Jesus and is doing drugs listen to it u will find your self. Its by Tim mcgraw.
