Why are some people obsessed with immigration ?

Are you capable of talking about other things? I'm just curious.

There are other reasons why this country is going "down the drain."

Gas prices,pollution, homlessness, affordable housing, etc.

We think it has become people's hobby, rather than a political debate; the anti-illegal team does not even accept that a pro-amnesty group can exist here. They are called pro-illegals and criminals by most of the regulars, simply because they take a pro-amnesty stand.

Except for a handful, we believe this is the place to cloak racist and bigot approaches as political patriotism and have at it to their heart's delight! After all, everything goes in this category; you can talk about everything to ridicule the pro-amnesty side and Mexican immigrants -- from tacos and burrito made up stories by imposters, tortilla recipes, to how they breed like rabbits, to how they are the reason our educational system/levels suffers (we think some people are inherently slow no matter where they come from), not to exclude the educational services and illegal entry, which is really the only viable arguments. The editorializing is the hobby! It is addictive in nature to the regulars like "you know who you are."

All the while, excluding Dars, Yars, and a few others, most Americans posting are illiterate, uneducated posts, with no obvious academic grounding, let alone real political views. Why else would they use the term "pro-illegal." This is the place to be totally judgmental with a license for prejudice. The good debaters move on. No point in dealing with the nonsense that goes on here. Every attack here is deliberate in our view. This is probably the most obnoxious category on Yahoo.

So to answer your question: is it possible to talk about other things? Not if the hobby is "Let's bash Mexicans and pro-illegals."

Because Immigration affects our society A LOT! We need immigrants but we cannot all people from all around the world to live here at the same time. All of us are striving to find a balance that will allow the good, hard working immigrants (legal or not) into this country whereas will keep the lazy, benefit-seeking ones out.

First of all, Immigrants is the Main Ingredient of our Great Nation. Without immigrants, there is NO modern powerful and mighty USA but an Indian Conferation which would probably be still in Iron age, using arrow and bow to fight each other.

As for now, we still need immigrants, including legal and illegal ones.
Legal immigrants came to US and contribute us with their wealth, knowledge or both. They NOT ONLY enable us to better understand other countries and their people, BUT ALSO help our international community to understand USA better that we ACTUALLY DO HAVE some people from each country, help our international community understand their shortcomings that bring their people to our country.
Financially, immigrants (legal or illegal) provide us cheap labor. Our federal law requires employers to provide minimal wage of (I believe) $5.25; whereas immigrants are willing to work below that wage.
When people talk about these immigrants are stealing our jobs, this actually draw us Americans away from working minimal wage, instead we tend to receive some but not a whole lot of training so we get paid at least like 8-12 dollars an hour, instead of, again, the minimum wage. From this stand point, immigrants actually help us to improve Ourselves.

It must mean enough to them to become obsessed pver it. It perhaps concerns them, or they have family, friends or relatives that are involved with this issue. There are many new issues to be overly concerned with such as pro-choice, pro-life. Where as one side feels that their opinion deserves priority over the opposing party opinions. Then I had heard on a radio station the other day, that someone wants to pass a bill to eliminate divorce! Oh plezzzzzzze! They couldn't build big enough prisons! So, it is the going thing, to get involved with issues, discuss them, after all we still have our freedom of speech; do things for a reason & a purpose. What you convey will have an impact on those that care to listen, it may provide for some good change in the political arena.

i agree with u. immigration isnt all i talk about n there are WAY WORSE things in this damn world but people think for sum gayass reason that illegals r gonna destroy the planet n everybody will die n the human race will end. they are reallyyyyyy paranoid, the main reason they care so much about this illegal immigration crap is cuz most illegals dont pay taxes n these nuts rite here r jealous of that. the whole gang, murder, n theft $hit they say thats caused by illegals is bull, no matter how hard they try to shove it down our throats.

The reason people are obsessed with imiigration is because of the unprecendented media and political coverage it has beenr ecieveing. IF you recall, earlier there were massive amounts of coverage for Avian flu, almost harldy mentioned anymore. The attentions of the public waxes and wanes with the attentions given to specefic events by the mass media.

Because illegal immagrants are ILLEGAL. Why should they get handed freedoms we were born into and all that when they are not even actual citizens. And most of them cant even speak English. Hell, most immagrants like Mexicans or Cubans speak Spanish here even though they are citizens here. Yes we are capable of talking about other things. You must just be looking for immagrant issues. National security w/e. Why does Canadians only have to have passports but everyone else has to have papers. We need to worry about gas prices and global warming. If every one else needs papers than americas should have papers before they go to any other country. The government is dumb.

Snicker, I could relate every single one of those to illegal immigration, but that would only show that I'm obsessed.

Every so often I run to politics, but they are usually talking about Clinton's sex life and calling eachother names like "Dumbocrats" and "Republipukes" which makes the discussion here seem quite elevated.

we are obsessed because we dint want our country to end up like the country's were people are fleeing from.we want a well thriving country and the only way to have one is that we know who is in our country and that they are obeying the law. if someone is an illegal and kills you we cant prosecute him. the only thing we can do is deport him and hope his country has the initiative to try him in a court. would you want that?
