The above answer is right on but I would add to use parchment paper and also turn the cookie sheet or pan you are using 1/2 way around about 1/2 way through the baking time. And remember to keep an eye on them.

The very LAST thing you would want to do it turn the heat up. It is not necessary at all! Sometimes instead of making individual cookies, I put them in a cake pan and make a cake size cookie....same temperature, perhaps a bit more cooking time, I just watch them closely.

The first time or two you try this, you'll need to keep an eye on the baking cookies. All you really have to do is bake 'em a bit longer - but it'll take practice to determine how long. Anything REALLY big, however, may require a special oven of the commercial variety. That's because it takes a high-quality oven to heat evenly. Don't want a cookie burnt on the edges while the center's still raw...

for large jumbo sized cookies, ensure that you take however much cookie dough you choose to use, and flatten it to the thickness of a normal sized cookie. If you want it to spread more, make sure you lower the temperature (i would go no lower than 325, depending on the recipe/ratios) keep an eye the first couple times, and make sure you pay attention to how long, temperature, and results so you can modify the next time you try it out.

Hey Cali Chick,

A few years back they were going on about pan cookies at either the Nestle Tollhouse ads or for the pull apart cookies (also from Nestle) and on the package was a recipe for Pan cookies. I don't remember the directions being anything different other than to roll the dough out.

I looked up Nestle's recipe, it's below. Hope that this helps!

You never raise the tempurate for anything; you leave them in longer. However, if they're too big or fat or watever, they might be like burnt on the inside cause it took the inside so long to cook, so watch out for that. Make them the right shape. The biggest cookie I ever made was I just got chocolate cip cookie dough and like spread it out on a pizza pan. It cooked perfectly!

Use a small Ice scoop. That's what I always use. We use the big cookies for ice cream sandwiches. You should'nt have to cook them too much longer. Maybe 1 or 2 minutes. But DO NOT raise the temp.

I make cookies the size of dessert plates and the only thing I find you have to do is maybe cook it a little longer. As long as it is the same thickness.

I've made cookies that fit my round pizza pan and then have decorated them for special occasions.

if they are the same width or depth as usual cookies the cooking time and temp are the same. Kinda like making a bar cookie.

lower temp and longer time is recommended. cookies made bigger than the normal size tend to crack. make sure that the thickness of cookies is uniform. in the oven pls do keep moving the cookies that it gets uniform color. proper greasing of tray is important
