Besides using a website...

Try going to a book store. They have books, CDs, DVDs, dictionaries and software you can purchase to learn a new language. Explain your situation to an associate and ask someone to assist you.

Its virtually impossible to teach yourself a language. But if you're looking for the basics, try the "Rosetta Stone" software. It's the best in the world, and the price matches.

My best recommendation is to find a tutor, or take a formal class. Russian has very strict and complex grammar. But its also fun.

A company called Rosetta Stone sells language learning software. It is supposed to be a fantastic way to learn a new language.

use an online english - russian dictionary, and look up basic nouns. like book, table, piano, chair, etc. once you have taught yourself some basic words, start figuring out how to piece them into sentences. it helps i you know someone who speaks russian too, cause then you can have them help you out with it and you can try saying things to them. eventually you will be semi fluent.

thats how i picked up on german. if someone speaks slowly in german to me i can understand some things here and there. but im not fluent yet.

Go to www.recordedboooks.com and order some of their Pimsleur language cds. Or check out your local library for some of recorded books language programs.
