First of all don't swallow gum, lol, but if you already swallowed some it goes through your system and ends up in your appendix. Gum is not digested the same as other foods, it is not completely broke down by your digestive fluids, that is what an appendix is for, the things your body cant pass. I know this because when I was a kid my favorite thing to to was eat Bubble Yum, and then I had to have my appendix taken out when I 11 years old.

The old wives tale is it will wrap around your appendix.WELL THAT IS NOT TRUE.There is no way anything you swallow can get into your appendix. It will go through your small and large intestines and come out the other end.It has no nutritional value,so I wouldn't recommend swallowing gum.

There is no danger in swallowing gum. Just try not to do it too often.

It will take 7 years to digest! Just kidding, but that is what I thought as a child. It goes through the same process as everything else we eat.

If you swallow bubble gum, you can make balloons from your rear-end, a definite highlight at your next party.

The acids in your stomach dissolve it. Whatever doesn't get dissolved then travels through your intestines and comes out in a bowel movement.
