You got THAT right!!! DEPORT ALL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!! Don't stop until they are all gone! They can come back if/when they apply through the legal channels.

Right on! Hopefully, more people can see the light. I am so glad that you dare to speak the truth!

Oh, and this is my reply to the very stereotypical pro-illegal answers:

"They do the jobs you won't do"=That's because no legal immigrant or citizen wants to be paid at slave wages! If the pay was a bit higher, we WOULD be taking those jobs!
"They need to feed their starving families"= Well, I guess it's their fault for having so many babies. It would help a lot if they think about having a baby AFTER they get settled down?
"You are racist"= Just because I want to enforce the law? What, do you think that US will just be fine and dandy after being overrun by so many poor people that it has become a 3rd World Country?
"You need education"= Been there, done that. What do I need to study? Isn't it the illegals who need the education, since most of them can barely even pass high school or speak English?
"They help our economy" = By taking jobs away from American citizens? It's not their fault that illegal immigrants wouldn't mind being payed below minimum wage. More poor people, yay! Sure, we are paying for cheap fruit, but if citizens or legal residents took those jobs, that would be less taxes for health care and benefits.

Don't you just hate it when they say the same thing over and over again?

Very good question. Why indeed should we deal with and pay for other people's pet charities, with no say in the matter? It is just like making any other charity mandatory. It really isn't that we don't care at all, we just can't afford it. I wonder if the illegals realize who they are hurting by being here, as it must be obvious to them that we're not all rich. I would wonder if they care but I know they don't. All they do is laugh at regular hard working citizens that they've hurt and call them lazy. I wonder if they would all do so well if it weren't for the special centers, like Centro Latino, who help them every step of the way?

The only point I disagree with is that it is an assumption that they will get their amnesty.

The gov't is working towards amnesty, even if they don't admit that their current plan is amnesty. The politicians are screwing middle class Americans at the behest of small and big businesses which save money by hiring illegal immigrants. If you are a proponent of either party and are against illegal immigration you should re-think your position on your party.

It is your party that won't pass a law, your farmers that are screaming, and big business making a lot of money off illegal's backs, so go talk to your senator that does nothing!

Labor shortage could mean crisis for ag

Ali Bay
Capital Press Staff Writer

DAVIS – Growers and farm labor contractors are scrambling to find enough workers to harvest their crops this fall and some say the worker shortage is escalating to crisis proportions.

Western Growers, the agricultural trade association that represents growers, packers and shippers of fresh fruits and vegetables in California and Arizona, is asking government officials to recognize the labor crisis.

Western Growers estimates that in the Central Valley alone, there is a shortage of about 70,000 farmworkers.

“It’s quickly reaching a crisis level and it’s possibly already done so,” said Tim Chelling, a spokesman for the industry group.

Chelling said growers are likely to lack the field workers needed to harvest some of the fall and winter crops in California. If crops are left in the field, an economic crisis will likely follow, he said.

Western Growers is appealing to the Department of Homeland Security and state governments in California and Arizona to help provide a stable work force for agriculture, while still securing the nation’s borders.

“The time to act has now arrived,” said Tom Nassif, president of Western Growers. “We are not asking for action to resolve the nation’s overall immigration crisis in the next couple of weeks. We know that’s simply not possible and completely unrealistic. We are asking for officials to acknowledge this labor crisis in agriculture and provide immediate remedies so that farmers, consumers and state economies don’t suffer what amounts to completely avoidable economic damage.”

There are many reasons why California doesn’t have the number of workers it has in the past, said Luawanna Halstrom, general manager and chief operating officer of Harry Singh and Sons, a company that produces vine-ripened tomatoes near San Diego.

Tighter border control and random raids have reduced the number of workers crossing the borders. The construction business is booming in California, pulling workers away from agriculture and into higher-paying jobs. Mexican workers are also opting to work in Canada under that country’s guest worker program.

“Agriculture is crying out for a legal means to hire labor,” said Halstrom, who also serves on the labor committee for the American Farm Bureau Federation. “That’s what we need. We’ve never been in more dire straits.”

They want you to stop winning.

It annoys them.

cantcu, it just breaks my heart. Ag doesn't mention that they already have the H2 visa that allows them to bring in unlimited seasonal labor that they put up for the season so long as the workers return to their home country at the end of the season, do they? Mind you, the employer has to provide housing, and I admit the paperwork needs simplification, but they are NOT in dire straights. They are just greedy.

I agree but.....NAFTA Plus in 2010 opens the borders and creates a universal currency. It won't matter after that. North American Union coming soon.

Illegals don't assume shite pendejo!!!

they are here for survival..... and it's great you don't want illegals but the people and corporations who hire them and exploit them for their cheap labor DO..... maybe you need to address the question to those that benefit from those people you despise so much!!!!!!

Yep. It's kind of like stowing away on a cruise ship and then demanding the free buffet.
