Your particular beliefs make little difference to me. I am a non-believer but most of my friends and most of the people I've loved believe in god.
If we are discussing religion, I'll explain why I disagree with you. The more you tell me I'm wrong, the more vigorously I'll disagree with you.
You will note, for instance, that although you have your own beliefs you are asking a question showing that you are concerned with the views of others. You care what atheists think when they criticize your views and I care what religious people think when they criticize mine.
But there's more- this is a democracy and a lot of people think that this is a Christian country and our laws should be made according to the Christian faith. Well that converts Christianity from a personal viewpoint to the very basis of our laws. That makes it political and very much a focal point of debate. For instance, there are those who would alter our funding or teaching of science based upon their religion. They've made their religious views my business. There are others who say that reproductive choices should be limited by God's will. That makes everything about God the subject of heated debate. There are those who say atheists shouldn't even be considered citizens or that they'd never vote for an otherwise qualified atheist candidate. Again, that makes religion political and of grave importance for public debate.
Do I join hands with friends as they say grace? Yes. Do I join them in the prayer? No. Their praying doesn't bother me at all, my joining them would be hypocritical. Would I go up to a person on the street and start arguing against theism? No. Would I go to a place like this where religious views are under scrutiny and express my views about religion? Yes, that's what the site is here for.

"90% of murders and rapist are athesist (sic).....so if your athesist (sic) you must be a murder or child molestor (sic)"????
Really? Do you just make up crap because you don't have a leg to stand on when defending your nonsensical religion?
No one cares if you want to believe in fairy tales. Go ahead and be delusional. But don't expect us to sit by while people try and teach fairy tales as science in public schools, or force their religion on others.
And as far as the religion itself. If we see the flaws in a belief system that millions follow and hardly any question, then we're damn sure going to point it out. Especially when those belief systems preach intolerance towards others for being different.

If I may be so bold? Theres two different kind of Christians- and theres two different kind of Atheists ok?
The first kind of Christian is the "Pew Warmers"- they go to church on Sunday, say a few prayers, and go home feeling that the've accomplished something. Some people are the "Holiday Christians"- they show up on Christmas and Easter.
Neither of these kind of Christians is the kind of Christian that Jesus wanted, ok? Jesus wanted the kind of Christian that nursed the sick, fed the poor, helped the orphans, picked up trash- in other words, Jesus wanted people to follow him who were proactive at DEMONSTRATING what LOVE really is. Pretty radical difference between the two.
Then you've got two kinds of Atheist (Some of it is called agnostics) The hard core flameing eliminiate all religion- such as Adolph Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Madaline O'Hare and her Son. These people wanted to stamp out ALL religion- they demonstrated their intolerance to others by making laws against religion. Then you've got the laid back atheist- you know the kind who votes every November, complains about taxes and says "Yeah, I don't think theres a god- HEY, SEE THOSE KIDS BREAKING AND ENTERING THAT STORE? You know, someone ought to teach those kids a lesson..." These are the people who say theres no god, but haven't realized that since 1962 our society has been rapidly decaying.

As long as your religious practices do not infringe or negatively affect others around you ... I don't care.
Who says 90% of murderers and rapists are atheist? Prison population figures would seem to either disagree with your assessment, or indicate nearly all rapists and murderers were never imprisoned.
And if your goal is to address the inappropriate generalizations made by some atheists ... perhaps you should avoid making inappropriate generalizations in return?

I really don't care what religion you choose to follow. I'm secure with who I am but it sounds like the atheists really have you rattled. I am curious what source told you 90% of murderers and rapists are atheist? You say "STOP stereotypes", what about your statement that "if your atheist you must be a murderer or child molestor"? My, my my.

I care. It does affect my everyday life. Bible thumpers are constantly trying to ruin society, make changes that they "believe" are in the interest of God. Plus, over 90% of murderers and rapists are christian.

I have give a hand to Melissa O, and Duckphup, way to go. Christians have lied, cheated, murdered for their so call god for nearly two millenia. It wasn't Atheists that committed acts like the inquisition, the crusades, the Witch trials, or the Holocaust. It was Christians. they have ALWAYS been the ones who have shoved THEIR beliefs down everyone's throats. Then there is their constant hypocrisy. their habit of preaching one thing, then doing the complete opposite, then they have the gall to blast non-Christians for doing exactly what they are doing. Give me a break, I am a PAGAN, and not bound by Christian theology. I don't expect them to live by what my faith says, so they have no right expecting me to live by theirs.

I really don't care what you believe per se, but I do care what Christians do collectively, which is to bully everyone else around with wars and the legal system.
Most of the anti-Christianity you see is a backlash to that heavy handed behavior of the Christian mind control machine.

I could care less what religion you are. Never have I asked you what religion you are. I don't even know you. It doesn't matter. The only things that keep me up at night are my kids and my insomnia. Why are you so defensive about this? Do you think that everyone is out to get you? That is called paranoia. Get some help.

The problem is not that non-believers want to stop religious people from practicing their faith -- the problem is that religious nuts try to stop rational, reality-based people from living their lives, and they make stupid laws based on fairy tales. Look at stem-cell research. Any sane person would support something that can help humanity as much as this could. But Dubya, based on his crazy beliefs, does everything he can to squash it. Same with gay marriage. Gay people's freedoms and civil rights have been systematically attacked by the religious right, who are intollerant of homosexuals only because their religion makes them so.
So, I don't care what you believe, as long as you don't create laws that drags my entire country down to your level!
