Don't breed your dog. Breeding should only be done by professionals, not for random people for fun.

Have you done genetic testing and have genetic information for 4 generations?

Have you done all the OFA testing?

Is your dog a prime specimen of the breed as judged by a breed professional and specialist?

Is her tempermant perfect for a BT?

Did you get her from a Reputable breeder (not a pet store, not a backyard breeder, not a newspaper ad) as a show dog?

Have you shown her and done well with her?

Are you willing to take responsibility for all her puppies for the rest of their lives? This means if someone loses their job in 10 years, they will be ble to find you and you will take the dog back?

Are you willing to put thousands of dollars into raising the pets?

Are you willing to lose your dog in the birthing process?

Are you willing to take what could turn into weeks off of work to help with the puppies?

Are you willing to be up every 3 hours if the mom rejects the puppies?

Are you a member of the Boston Terrier Club Of America and willing to abide by their code of ethics?

Are you willing to screen all prospective owners to ensure that they will provide a good home for the puppy?

Are you willing to ask that all pet quality dogs be fixed?

Is she AKC registered?

Are you willing to follow the AKC breeder guidelines?

If you aren't breeding to improve the line, then you are contributing to the 3-5 million animals that are put down each year in shelters. These include Boston Terriers and many other purebreds (25%-40%).

I don't have a Boston terrier but I do live with a one year old male Pug. But if you want to breed your dog try getting a 1 year old beagle or pug.

Pug+ Boston Terrier= Bug

Beagle + Boston Terrier = Buggle

These are both somewhat popular mixed breeds.

Just a thought if you wanted to breed mutts.

One year old is too soon to breed- wait until at least 2.

Or better yet, spend a week volunteering at your local animal shelter. I guarantee you'll never want to breed your pets again.

Pet overpopulation can be solved if each of us takes just one small step, starting with not allowing our animals to breed. !!!
