The toughest thing for me has been potty training my 2 year old which we are still working on, he has a problem with speech and It has been a pain In the butt, but thankfully he's to cute to get mad at.

With my own experience... it has to be protecting themselves from any/all harm... from peers who name call to don't take candy from strangers... I find it so hard to explain to them over and over... trying to protect them and most children end up learning on their own.. I don't want that for my kids.. I want them to learn early how to be safe and protect themselves... and I will kill myself trying to do just that..... why ? Because it is the most difficult thing to teach a child, teenager and sometimes an adult..

Well it depends on the age of the child
6 months...to eat
12 months... to walk
2 years... potty training!!!!!!!!!
3 years... to play nice
5 years... to write
6 years... to read
8 years... responsibility
12 years... the birds and the bees (overall might be the hardest)
16years... to drive (also very hard but in a more worry some way)
18years... to be independent (another hard one because it means letting go)

Sharing.
Quit Whining.
Stop Bugging your Sister/brother.

Take your pick. These cause the majority of issues at my house. It's getting better all the time though.

How to listen....

"Stop."
silence
"Stop!"
silence
"STOP!!"
"Mom!! You yelled at meeee, whaaaaaa!"

How to see...

(Child's shoes are in the middle of the living room)

"Sara, we have to go please put on your shoes."
"I can't find them."
"Sara, they are in the living room. "
(Sara walks into living room and is standing right over the shoes)
"Mom, I don't see them!" (Mom is thinking this is a joke, right?)
"Honey, they are right in front of you."
"Where?!"
"Right there!! Can't you see?!" (now standing next to child pointing directly at shoes)
"Okay! Okay! I didn't see them!"

How to feel...

(Sara has just said something mean to her sister)

"Sara, that wasn't nice, how would you feel if someone said that to you?"
"I wouldn't care." (farthest from the truth)

(Sara accidentally bops her sister)

"Sara, you hurt your sister can you please tell her you're sorry?"
"It was an accident!!!!"
"I know honey, I'm not saying you did it on purpose. Wouldn't you want someone who hurt you to say sorry?"
"No." (Yeah righhhht!)

I love my kids, they're a blast! I wouldn't trade this time in my life for anything!
