I just bought a 8 week puppy this last Saturday and on Monday I found out he has Parvo, the vet, did not want to give me any medicine becuase he said he was going to die anyway, but I am praying for him and I want to know if there is anything that I can give him to help him get better. I would appriciate your prayers for Shiloh as well.

First off..... find another vet - period, end of story. I can't believe they would say that.

Secondly, he needs treatment immediately. It is somewhat costly but your puppy can pull through with the proper treatment & if it hasn't gone too far. He'll need to stay in quarantine at the vet's office & be given medication & plenty of IV fluids. I too got a pup from the animal shelter a few years ago and a couple days after I took him home be began showing symptoms. It took three or four days after treatment began but his energy level picked up & he was able to go home after a couple more days. He grew up to be extremely strong & energetic. I wish you luck & a prayer for Shiloh. (Cool name by the way.)

Parvo can be cured if detected early on. Parvo has a distinct odor like the inside of a tin can. The puppies stool will be runny and may contain blood in it as well. Curing a dog of parvo is costly to say the least. But the person or breeder you bought the puppy from should pay for the medical costs or refund all your money because the sold you a sickly puppy right from the begining. More then likely the puppy contracted Parvo from it's mother... after being cured of parvo, the yard, house and even the bottom of shoes should be spayed with bleach. Some say parvo can live in the ground for a year or more ! So it's a very deadly virus indeed.
God bless and good luck....

All shots giving to your dog is to prevent it from becoming sick just as we get shots for ourselves. Parvo is very deadly and also distemper if u dont vaccinate. Most likely these 2 diseases will kill the dog in 2-3 days. All though its a 50/50 chance that it can survive parvo but very expensive can cost up to like $1000. and no there is no cure but some dogs survive due to getting an IV with fluids to prevent dehydration because the dog wont eat or drink and vomits and has explosive diarrhea along with blood towards the end and its up to the dog how well it can hang on

Yes parvo can be cured! Take your puppy to another vet ASAP so they can start treatment quickly. The treatment can be fairly expensive. A friend of mine adopted a dog from a shelter and it had parvo and I think it cost around $400 to treat him. Good Luck and I hope Shiloh is ok.

YES! PARVO can be cured and I discovered the cure without dextrose and the cost of veterinarian... The treatment I discovered for parvo can treat parvo for 2-3 days. Even if your dog is in serious condition just pm me.

My puppy came down with parvo a few days after I adopted her from a shelter. The vet said it was one of the worst cases he had seen, but I got the treatment anyway. It cost me about $500 and the dog had to stay at the vet for 3 days, and there was no guarantee that she would make it. She pulled through and they actually let her go early b/c she had such a speedy recovery. There is no medicine that you can take home and give to the puppy, but there is a treatment-find another vet!

First get a second opinion. I can usually get a dog through parvo, but the expense of fluids and antibiotics is usually way higher than most people are willing to spend. Nobody can "cure" parvo. We can support the dog till its immune system gets over it.

Get to another vet fast. And where did you buy him from? An 8 week old puppy should not have Parvo if it came from a reliable source. I'm guessing you bought him from a pet store, right? Sorry to seem harsh, but this happens all the time! Not all dogs die from Parvo, but many do. I really, really hope he will be alright, but go back to whoever you bought him from and tell them they sold you a sick puppy and do whatever you need to to make sure no one else has this happen to them. Please spread the word - DONT BUY FROM A PET STORE, spend the same money and go to a breeder who can prove both parents are healthy and have been fully health tested. I will keep Shiloh in my prayers, and go after whoever sold you a sick puppy.
