Good luck on stopping her mom. She's gonna listen to it outside of the home if you regulate it within. It's what kids do, rebel. I am not a fan of today's music either but realize that my mom didn't like the stones or the beatles either and thought they were going to ruin me forever. As I am sure that her parents thought that Elvis and Sinatra would be the death of her. Allow your daughter to grow her own wings and she will also have to deal with her kids listening to music that she finds either offensive, abusive or perhaps may end the world.

Pick you battles wisely, this may not be something you really want to do battle over, with other issues surely yet to come. I would worry more if I did not know what kind of music my daughter is listening to. My daughter just turned 14 by the way. Also, I would bet that your Mom did not much like the music you listened to at 13. I would just let her know that you do not like the music(explain why) and you would appreciate if she would be respectful of you and not play it so loud or use her headphones when you are home. Allow her to make an adult choice to respect your wishes rather than try to "stop" her from listening to it. Good Luck!

This is the age that they start listening to it. Trust me they hear much worse in the school yard. If you're so worried about it take away the cds. Where is she getting this music? Talk to her about how you feel about this music. Tell her what upsets you so much about it? Teenagers need a lot of attention, just because they are older doesn't mean that they shouldn't have rules. Enforce it. Make it a rule. Tell her you don't like that kind of music in your house. It is your house after all.
As to why? Because that's what they do. They are in constant process of learning about the world. If these aren't the lessons you want your child learning you better get on it real quick. The sooner the better. She may think the music is cool, it's your job to offer other music and tell her why you're so against it.

i'm no confirm yet i might have the means to offer some advice attempt having the song censored while she's around. If no longer that, possibly come across different kinds. It would not could be that motor vehicle-tone pop crap or something you dislike, in basic terms different artists and/or genres. My dad substitute right into a brilliant fan of that kind of song yet as a toddler, the finished family individuals stepped forward a liking for international song. yet another plus to that's each and all of the categorical lyrics are in a distinctive language :) i began out listening to punk around the age of 11 or 12, yet it extremely is in basic terms the age i began out liking it. I particularly plenty listened to despite the fact that i wanted, my mum and dad did no longer extremely have that substantial of a skill till that age.

She is a teenager. That is what teenagers do. When my mother didn't want me listening or watching that, she would take it away from me and forbid me. Nowadays, all the inappropriate stuff is normal. You haven't noticed. Flip on the TV. There is nudity and cursing everywhere and it is just going to get worse. They keep changing the ratings. I have watched several PG movies that I thought was inappropriate for children/teenagers to watch. Everyone is listening to it and it makes her cool to listen to it too. If you don't want your child listening to it, you are going to have a terrible time trying to get her to stop. Her friends, people at school and etc... She will see it eventually. I suggest you try to talk to her about it. See how she feels about it and tell her how you feel about it. Don't close your ears on her. Listen to what she has to say. It will make a big difference. Good luck.

When kids become teenagers, they start to believe that they are becoming more mature. They start getting interested in certain books, certain music, and they wear certain things that you might not consider appropriate. In your case, your thirteen-year-old daughter probably thinks that she is old enough to listen to obscene music. Talk to her, tell her (gently) that she shouldn't be listening to that kind of music. She will probably refuse and get upset, and if that's the case, tell her that as long as she lives under your roof, she will follow certain rules. You are the parent-you need to make sure that your daughter grows up listening to appropriate music, you need to take charge.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

honest answer..
you can't.. if you try and stop her and she's is like almost all teens she will work against you, honestly the best thing you can do is ask her to keep it down when you dont want it heard..
usually these things are fads.. she's listening to it because her friends like it and she doesnt want be out of the loop. its very very normal, and as a parent you have to let her make her own choice on whats right/wrong.. you can just give you opinion.
by the way, i can understand, the music is horrible..

By exerting more parental control. Explain to her why you feel this is inappropriate for her to listen to. You may even have to go so far as to not only restrict what she listens to around the house, but you may even have to remove any and all access to such music (translation: take away her IPOD, radio, whatever).
Some times Tough Love is needed, and it is never easy.

All the kids are doing it. It is being marketed to them. There is probably not much you can do about it. Maybe the best thing is talk to her about the lyrics. Tell her you won't forbid her to listen to the songs if you talk about them. Tell her exactly what concerns you about the lyrics. It could lead to all sorts of conversations and make her more comfortable talking to you about bigger problems she may face over the next several years.
