GREAT question! This was actually researched on "Myth Busters" and it was found that while the quack doesn't actually "echo" the way so many other sounds do, there IS a reverberation of the sound. The way that the sound leaves their throat has something to do with it not displacing the air molecules or some such...it's been a while since I saw the show.

So the short answer is yes, the quack DOES echo - just not in the "normal" way!

Scientists have shown that ducks' quacks do echo, but the reverberations fade out so quickly that you can't hear them.

Cool, eh?

Of course it does if it is in a situation where sound will echo.

It won't echo if there is nothing for the sound to "bounce off"
neither will anything else.
