Has anyone learned anything about themselves on here? About how they feel and believe, or is it all just pulpit pounding? (regardless of what religion's or lack of religions pulpit it is)
I think I am learning more about being tolerant, and to accept what others believe. If you have learned something... care to share it with the rest of us?

What I have learned:

1. There are more people who think like me than I thought

2. There are people who can't tell the difference between serious questions and satirical ones

3. There are some people who have an extraordinary sense of satire.

4. Many take this way too seriously

I have learned that Christians do not tolerate Atheists and Atheists do not tolerate Christians.
We each have an opinion and I have learned from this forum that some people will listen to your opinion but some will just go off on that opinion if it does not agree with theirs.
I have learned that there are more Believers than there are Thinkers. Sad because you are never too old to use your brain to think with.
When you look around you at all the wonders of the earth, fellow human beings, animals, the stars, and all the other things your eyes can see, why can you not see that there is so much more to it all?
Open your minds and remove the shades from your eyes.

I've learned all sort of things about how other people think.

Like certain people don't think it's a sin to kill Iraqis. But kill a Yankee and it is. (There's somehow a difference between killing and murder.)

That you must hate gay people because the Old Testament says so, but you don't practice animal sacrifice because Christians don't follow the Old Testament anymore.

That there are talking donkeys, unicorns, dragons and giants in the bible and that every word of the bible should be taken literally.

That for some reason bananas prove intelligent design.

That anything scientists do is wrong if it pertains to evolution. And that scientist must know right now, this minute what the meaning of life is, and if they don't, then they are completely wrong about everything and god created everything with magic.

That god created Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve.

And finally, that people walked with dinosaurs, just like in the Flintstones.

And that's what I've learned by coming on this website.

I have learned not to ask questions because most people use this as an opportunity to be nasty and/or rude. I have learned not to take the nasty, rude people personally. I have learned to keep my answers kind and to try to truly impart some life knowledge. I have learned not to answer inane questions just for points. I found some really good no-bake cookie recipes. This could be an excellent forum for learning and fun but mostly it's just trash talking.

I'm learning that we're not as tolerant and accepting of a society as I thought we were....that people will hide behind their computers and spew garbage about people's races and religions. Didn't the Holy Wars, WW1 and WW2 teach us anything?

I have learned that there are as many opinions, beliefs and perspectives as there are people and that many of them vary widely from my own. I have learned there are a lot of haters out there, but also a lot of loving, open-minded people too. I've learned a lot on here, and a lot about myself and my beliefs.

I have learned that there are a lot of intolerant people who are very ignorant about their own religions. This encourages me to study more and become more patient!

It is hard to go on forum sites and not learn anything. If you have a genuine want of discussion, forum sites can increase your learning quickly.
