me and my boy-friend have been dating for 3 months now. i'm 17 and this is the first real boy-friend i've ever had. i've never broke up with a boy before, they've always broken up w/me. i don't think i could do it to his face. i feel like i don't want a boy-friend right now and he's starting to get on my nerves. i want to be free to do whatever i want. it's my senior year in highschool and i don't want to be tied down.
i don't understand what is so wrong with breaking up over the phone???

the reason i've thought about doing it over the phone is because i won't see him for another week. the next time i see him will be at something for school and that will be every day for the whole week. i figured it would be better if i did it before then.

nothing is wrong with it --- as long as you tell him the truth that's what matters---the sooner you tell him the better....
Regardless of how you break up it's going to hurt --- the reason I favor over the phone ---because when you keep hearing "whys" --- and the "can't we still be friends?" ---me, I don't want friendship with him(he's a former love, I can be nice but I don't want to hang out with him and I don't want him calling me) ---- there's no closure --- they always got their foot in the door (so to speak)..... so when they keep going on and on, you can end the conversation quicker by hanging up --- then, screen your calls.

I think that if you break up over the phone that it will show a huge flaw in your character... I want to believe that because you asked this question that you dont in fact have that flaw. If you are mature enough to feel as though you can start a relationship with someone we must then believe that you are mature enough to break up with them face to face. Obviously he likes you or he wouldnt be with you. just show the guy some respect and he'll respect your decision alot more if he knew you cared enough to tell him to his face...

The question might be.. Would you want someone to break up with you over the phone or would you rather they have the courage to tell you face to face?

its not a nice thing to do, i mean if you got the chance to do it personally then do it face to face, it jus tshows that you act like an adult.it would be ok to break up on the phone if you would have a long distance relationship but since you dont, just tell him.

Who knows? He might even prefer if you do it over the phone. Less drama.
