Kittens are usually bathed by their mothers until weaning time at 4-8 weeks. Since the weather is so warm you are not in danger of overchillng the kitten. If you have air-conditioner it might be too cold for them.

At the shelter we usually bathed kittens in Dawn. We gave them a bath to help get rid of fleas. If this is not a problem I would hold off on the bath.

If this is a kitten you think you want to give regular baths as she gets older then it's good to start young. I have had six cats in my home and have never given them a bath , and they do go outside into my back garden almost every day. I do have a 22 yr old cat now and she goes every 4-6 weeks to the groomer for a bath as she has severe arthritis and does not groom herself anymore.

Anitra Frazier's book, "The New Natural Cat" has a great chapter on grooming and bathing. She was, or is, a professional groomer. That is just such a lovely book I feel every cat owner should have it. Her deep love and respect for cats just comes through and grabs you with every paragraph.

Liquid dawn or Ivory works best for kittens, but be sure that you dry them off VERY well, or as much as you can because they can get pneumonia.

Hartz, but wait until they are at least six months, never wash above their neck. To protect eyes and ears.

Why isn't the mother cat washing it! If there is no mum cat, then you will have to use your own spittle!!
