Undergoing big decision. Im coop student with minimal salary...will have 5000 tops by end of summer. Currently have an AE92 GTS corolla with low mileage. Deciding whether i should spend the money on an engine swap, 20 valve blacktop, which would cost around 2000 CDN for the complete swap or an 89 supra Turbo with 3M-GTE stock engine which would cost around 3900. New car? Or Engine Swap?

fix your car it has a reliable motor dont know what whent wrong but not typical for major proublems . you will a least know it fresh and will still have plenty of life for years to come dont swap you can rebuild for the same price unless that is a rebuild with a good warranty typical 3 years or 50,000 miles. look on line for a locl place around you and get a price on motor yourself you can save several hunderds and they will deliver it to shop that will be installing it . you wont get the warranty on the motor on supra .the supra is nice and attractive but look at the long run (gas) services, breakdowns.do you really know what has or hasnt been done to the supra. what ever you decide stay with toyota budmanss396@yahoo.com

You know what all is wrong with the car you have, but not the other car. You may have problems with the new one in a short time that can wind up costing a lot more.

I'm not seeing anything wrong with your corolla, so why not invest your money into it. There is a lot of aftermarket upgrades available for this model.

time to change it up a bit. get yourself that supra, and maybe put the rest of the money into some upgrades for it.

Your corrolla is low miles? Toss an NOS unit on it for 500.00 and have at it. Why dump any money into either old POS?
