we don't exactly believe in A or THE prophet. there was elijah, moses, and many more. the only prophet we believe talked face to face with god was moses. the rest had visions or dreams. there were also other people like abraham who talked with messengers of god, i.e. angels, but that doesn't make them prophets.

personally, i think there's a chance the whole lot were schizophrenics, but you never know.

The Jews have had many prophets: Moses, Dan, Ezekiel . . . all the guys in the Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament part of the Christian Bible).

[Edit for some of the previous posters: Yes, Jews are still waiting for the Messiah, but there is a difference between a Messiah and a prophet.]

The Jews believe there was a long line of Prophets. They don't think Jesus was a Prophet at all. The Muslims think Jesus was a Prophet yet He never claimed to be one.
The Jews don't believe in THE Prophets, only Prophets of God. They are still waiting for their Messiah and for Elijiah to come an announce Him.

The Nation of Israel rejected the Lord Jesus Christ as their King and had him killed. God today is dealing with all people alike and Israel has been blinded. Romans 11: 25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. Galatians 3: 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Muslims are believing in a false prophet Mohammad. The Lord Jesus Christ died for all that would believe and trust in Him. He rose again the third day for our justification. Romans 4: 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. He is alive and sitting on the right hand of God the Father. Mohammad is still in the graves. Matthew 28: 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

The Jews believe in the old testament prophets, from Abraham to the last prophet Malachi. They also believe in the Torah, and their main religion is Judaism, the religion of the Pharisee and the Saducees. A very strict religion base on all things which God handed down to Moses.

Tthey rejected Jesus as their Messiah, and named him as an impostors who claim to be God Son. Up to now they are waiting for the their messiah to come in the form of a warrior to lead them in wars against their enemy, however, God brought forth a lamb instead of a lion in their midst.

As a Muslim, I know that Muslims "believe" in & respect ALL of God's prophets. However, the truth is that Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was The Last Prophet. The reason why he's so respected is because of his personality (read some about Him); this world was created for Him to come in it. It is said that He loves his followers 30x MORE than their mothers, & God loves them 70x MORE than very own mothers. WOW ....

There are many and here are just a few:

Ex:7:1: And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

Judg:4:4: And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.

1Sam:3:20: And all Israel from Dan even to Beer-sheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.

1Sam:19:20: And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

to Abromof (Abraham) mostly and Moses..

Abraham (ca. 1900 BC/BCE אַבְרָהָם "Father/Leader of many", Standard Hebrew Avraham, Tiberian Hebrew ʾAḇrāhām; Arabic ابراهيم Ibrāhīm; Ge'ez አብርሃም ʾAbrəham) is regarded as the founding patriarch of the Israelites whom God chose to bless out of all the families of the earth. He is a critical figure in both Judaism and Christianity, and is a very important prophet in Islam. Accounts of his life are given in the Book of Genesis and also in the Qur'an.
