There are excellent pictures in a book called sexing gamebirds and poultry available at the Murray Mcmurray HAtchery bookstore on line, showing how to sex a duck. Otherwise once they hit sexual maturity, a duck will quack and a drake will whisper meaning their is a dramatic difference in their vocal calls that an experienced waterfowl person could listen to them even over the phone and sex them for you. Believe me, I've done it before.

Sorry, it's an old joke, but it was on TV yesterday on Countdown: You sex them using a very powerful magnifying glass and a large pair of tweezers! I'm sorry it's only a joke answer, but at least it's not a 'yep' - 'nope' or even worse a 'don't know' and let's face it, that's a bloody novelty in these parts nowadays!

Until they get plumage birds are very difficult to sex as they lack external genials. Like lizards they have structure called a cloaca which externally looks almost exactly the same for both genders.

If they are ducks thay are both female.
The males are drakes.
Difficult to sex them at this age but drakes don't quack so when they start to quack you will know.
If they both quack they are both female.
If neither quack they are both male.
If one quacks and one doesn't you will know the difference.
Donald Duck was a total misnomer he should have been Donald Drake!
