French bread, best butter, Red Lester or Double Gloucester cheese, pickled onions and hedgehog flavor crisps (yes they really were the flavour of hedgehogs! The proceeds went to St. Tiggywinkles Hedgehog hospital). I used to eat these when I was a kid, gorgeous! Sadly they stopped making Hedgehog crisps when I was about 11 (unless they just don't sell them 'round here!) and beef and onion just aren't the same.
My other favorites at the time were ;white bread, best butter, white sugar and banana (optional) or of course that childhood favorite a Jammie piece or a good old bacon buttie with brown sauce or as an open sandwich how about Pumpernickel bread topped with cream cheese and either tangerine segments or sliced strawberries, yummy!
Sorry about the long winded answer, I must be really hungry!

White bread is the devil and so is this sandwich. It's a special thing not to be had too often.
White Bread
Miracle Whip
Pickle chips (sliced pickles)
Sliced Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Fresh Ground Black Pepper
Tabasco Sauce
Sliced Ham

Great question. I eat sandwichs all the time for lunch. My fav sandwich would be a viggie!
I would like it on Nice soft Italian bread toasted in the oven with cheese melted a little. Then I would but some hot pepper relish on the bottom, followed by Lettuce,Tomato,Onions,Peppers, and Pickles. Then I would top it with oil salt and pepper. (all the viggies would have to go in that order im very picky when it comes to my veggie subs) I just ate one..... but they didnt make it 100% correct!

Oven roasted turkey and Havarti with avocado. How I would make it:
sliced sourdough bread, with a tad bit mayo, Dijon mustard, green leaf lettuce, sliced tomatoes, red onion, avocado, Havarti cheese and sliced fresh roasted turkey....right off the bird, not the processed lunch meat. Dill pickle on the side with a bag of Salt and Pepper Dirty Potato Chips.
SO good....think that's what I am having for lunch.

Toasted whole wheat bread, smoked ham and turkey thinly sliced. Tomato, lettuce, onion. Mayo, not dressing. Salt, fresh ground pepper and just a dash of hot sauce. Oh, and some swiss and provolone cheese. YUM

Ham, turkey, salami, swiss and cheddar cheeses, all on a rosemary-parmesan roll with mustard and Miracle Whip.
(A sandwich just isn't a sandwich without the Miracle Whip...)

Crusty french baguette, brie cheese. That's it.
And a bag of cherries, with a cafe-au-lait, sitting under a tree at the Places des Invalides.
