No. It only states there were wise men and they brought the three gifts; most people assume one guy per gift. The way it's worded, there could have only been 2 guys, or as many as a million!
They also didn't show up right away after Jesus was born.

No. The Bible states that there were wise men. It does not state the number.
Matthew 2:1 (NKJV)
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem,
The magi did not visit baby Jesus at the stable in Bethlehem...Jesus was in a house when they came to visit.
Matthew 2:10-11 (NKJV)
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. [11] And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him.
At the house, the wise men presented three gifts.
And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
So, people erroneously conclude that if there were 3 gifts, there must have been 3 men...but that is not necessarily true.

No it does not.
It is based on the three gifts.
Three gifts, three wise men.
In fact they were a cast of wise men, more than one.
Mat 2:1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,
They also arrived about 2 years after Jesus was born.
Mat 2:11 And they came into the house and saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell down and worshiped Him; and opening their treasures they presented to Him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.
INTO THE HOUSE, not the barn or stable.
Why ~ two years?
Mat 2:16 Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent and slew all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its environs, from two years old and under,
Two years old and under!!! Why not just the new borns?
Mat 2:7 Then Herod secretly called the magi, and ascertained from them the time the star appeared.
This is when they told him two years ago.

It states that there were Magi which means wise men, they are mentioned throughout Matthew chapter 2
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him." Mathew 2:1-2

It does not say three men. It does say they presented gold, frankincense and myrrh. Maybe that is why people think there where only three men.
