Great question. . .
Animals and plants were created fully grown. We are to assume that God did this to express the completeness of His creation. If He had created only seeds, we would be left with the idea that He could only create half-finished things. To the contrary, God created plants and animals fully grown (with the seed of itself in them) so we could more fully trust His abilities.
If you take the proper interpretation of scripture, and read it as it was intended to be read, we see that the bible clearly states that the days of creation were morning and evening (signifying 24 hour periods).
(Note that the concepts of Day and Night, Morning and Evening, existed long before the Sun and stars.)
As God chose to take the Third day to create plant life, He then selected the Fourth for creation of the Sun (later necessary for photosynthesis).
I guess it could be argued that the Sun was not needed until the plants were there.
There are somethings we will never know. Most of them begin with "Why. . .".
But I hope this helped.

Light was created before the sun. The sun is not light-it only gives off some light. Plants were made 1 day before the sun anyway, no problem-plants can live less that 24 hours without the sun.
This is a no-brain-er.

Sorry dear, but if you are trying to start an argument you need to learn more.
There are a number of organisms that are born, live , and die and have nothing to do with photosynthesis.
And though I'm a Christian I'm not going to even try and use the Bible for a science book. How did everything get started? It's conjecture at best. The theory goes there was this really big bang. To those who say this proves it's all a big accident. What caused the bang? And what was there before there was a bang? What was going on then?
Leave the Bible alone unless you are going to use it as a how to live manual.

Says in the bible he made all the luminaries before he did anything else. the first act was Let there be light.
Plants were further down the scale and you don't know how long Gods days are maybe a billion years.

God's very presence manifested will take the place of the sun.
Revelation 22:5
There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light.
