Why does one person care what the other person believes? Is it so important for us to argue this point? Since we don't know what really happens after death, why is it necessary to worry about it now? If the Christians are right then the rest of the world will find that out at death, right? If the Atheists are right then the rest of the world will also find that out at death, right?
Since neither group really knows the outcome why does each group need to worry about arguing the issue?
Christians "believe" they know the outcome.
Atheists "think" they know the outcome.

So what is the problem and the solution.

Please keep the witty remarks to yourself, this is a serious question that should be answered with intelligence.

Peace and Love to everyone.

So far you are the only two people who have really read the question and answered it with intelligence.
People, I did not attack any one religion, I did not say the government should keep out of people's religion, read the question and think about the answer.

it's not neccessarily about trying to make people believe what we believe...but more that we really do enjoy the debate, and that we want others to "hear" us.....that doesn't mean that we want them to change (whether that's what we want is irrelevant), it is that we want them to understand us....I love discussing my beliefs, thoughts, feelings, etc....on just about any topic....particularly religion, because it is such a hot topic, but I also like to hear what other people think, feel, and believe....sometimes people make valid points that I hadn't thought of for me to consider and think about, and sometimes they are not so valid, and I'm glad I hadn't previously thought of and wish I had never read because of the ignorance and stupidity of it. It really shouldn't be this way, but it is. Some people get on here just to stir things up and harrass others about their beliefs because, they, themselves, are not secure enough in their own......nobody WANTS to be wrong, but it doesn't seem that anybody can accept the fact that NOBODY is wrong....what's right for one person is not neccessarily what's right for another....

According to mostly all the religions in the world if you don't believe their way, you're going to hell. So if that statement is true, then we're surely on our way. When asking this question, be prepared that people will find this offensive because this questions the very fabric of their faith. I personally do not believe that there is a wrong or right religion. To this, I say to each it's own. Every way is not for everyone. People grow at different rates people grow different ways.

What's right for one may not be right for another. What's the difference in people trying to stuff their religion down some one's throat than saying that everyone should look, dress and act alike. That's not free will. That's slavery on another scale.

They (the Christians) use a loophole, which is that government can endorse a "generic god" which can apply to any religion therefore the government is not endorsing a specific religion. It's a technicality that enables (the Christians) to put their god on my governments cash, pledge, and on some state and federal monuments and public land. How about Bush's faith based initiative?

Our Christian forefathers understood the importance of keeping government out of the business of religion "generic god". Religious persecution is what led pioneers here in the first place.
Modern day Christians do not understand this.

Religion and belief in gods belong in private homes, churches, and those fanatics on the street corner with a bull horn. Not in my government.

I don't care what people want to "just believe" in as long as it is not funded by my tax dollars.

You'll feel it's "so important" when your government starts telling you that your a second class citizen, like they do with homosexuals, atheists, and use to do with women, and blacks (some would argue they still do).

This is because, at least recently, people have become completely convinced of their opinions as being absolute truth. Not a relative truth, to them, but something that is so obvious that if somebody else doesn't believe it, they're wrong (and either wicked or stupid).

Furthermore, what other people believe does affect you. The evolution/creationism debate is one example. Gay marriage is another.

In my opinion, much religion is not bad in itself. It is an important part of culture. One cannot talk about its truth or falsehood, just as one cannot talk of art, music and language as being true or false. It is simply part of human nature.

But once it extends into the realm of actual truth and replaces reason in people's minds (such as in much of Islam and Christianity), that is when problems occur.

I'm no atheist, but I'm noticing more and more that when atheists/nonbelievers post questions they seem to always get attacked somehow or told they are stupid and they just don't know,or they just need to believe,i agree it does come from both sides,me being a nonbeliever as of now,i don't think ANYONE is right about god or religion,no matter what you are,the problem is the holier than thou attitudes, the solution is for everyone to just respect everyones stance, but that will never happen.anyone who thinks they know whats up is sadly misguided.

Well...Christians believe that they have a mission to "save" us. As such they feel that it is their duty to Christianize you before you die. They operate under a standard monarchy style rule. If you do not support their king then you must be an enemy of the king. It's a convert or die thing.

What ticks me off is when atheists say that christians are stupid for not being in the "big bang from nothing" group. Why do they care if I believe in God, I don't care that they don't. Apparently, harassment is fun for atheists.

Maybe they are both insecure in their beliefs and thoughts and need the approval of others.
