I got a ticket going 62 in a 45 this morning, and the cop said that since I was so honest (I have a radar detector and concealed weapon in the car) in telling him what I had that he would have no problem talking with the judge to have it reduced. On average, how much do you think my ticket will get reduced to? It's a $180, 4-point ticket as of now. BTW, I'm in South Carolina.

I just got a ticket going 69 in a 55 in NC and have done a lot of research into the hypothetical reductions. You can do a search for attorneys in your area who deal with traffic tickets. Even if you don't want to use an attorney, many times they can tell you on the phone what they would try to get it reduced to. Call and ask to speak to the paralegal. In the end, I'm going to have to get an attorney to go to court for me as I can't make it in person to court. It's going to cost me $350, but the reduction is supposedly going to be a non-moving violation or fault equipment, which won't hit my insurance. If it did hit my insurance, after speaking with my agent, I would pay an extra $1350 over the next three years extra.

Well if you were polite to the officer and he did not arrest you for the weapon charge you already got a break. You can contact the PA of that county and see if he will reduce it to a regular speeding ticket. He/She may set a court date for this action and you will have to appear and try to get it lowered, keep in mind you can fight the ticket and actaully have a court case which could go to the state supreme court if they will hear it.

By showing up you prove you are willing to defend your self the main thing is to be polite and professional and bring a few points of law that will help you if you can find some that relate to your case or cases.

uh mm what you have to do is go to court if the police officer does not come to court the ticket is dismissed, make sure you go to traffic school so your insurance rates won't go up
