The guy that I am talking to is 18 and I am 24...do you think that this is too much?? I know people say all the time that age is just a number and such but usually when you hear about age differences the guy is older so it doesnt seem to be as big of a deal. My friends seem to think that it is too much and that I am just setting my self up to be in a relationship that will fail...I dont think so but I often listen to the advice of my friends! What do you think?

Maturity is much more important than age. This is why women tend to be with older men, (super-generalization coming up) as women tend to mature faster than men. If you enjoy this guy and you feel your personalities work together who cares what your friends think.

All that being said, people do tend to go through great changes between 18 and 24 so make sure you are compatible or just take the relationship as it comes.

I honestly dont see anything wrong with it. I am kind of in the same situation, my guy is 25 and i am 20. The only thing he is concerned with, as the older one, is that when i turn 21 i will want to go out, "experience life" aka party/bars/etc., and possibly leave him for "freedom". That would be my only concern to tell you. That you as being older may be ready to settle down & the other person, only 18, may not. But from my experience so far in my relationship is i tell my man, if he loves me, stay with me, only time will tell. I have no intentions of leaving him whether or not i want to go out, that doesnt mean i want to go have sex with everyone. So aslong as you two love eachother & are happy than nothing at all is wrong with it &^ your friends should be more supportive of you. hope this helps & best of luck =)

ummm... My only problem with this age difference is that at twenty-four, you've had the chance to get out on your own and hopefully start your own life and maybe go to college and all the wonderful other things you get to do as an adult, while this guy's life has only just begun! He needs to have the opportunity to get out on his own and become his own person before you two get into a serious relationship. After all, it's only fair that you both have the chance to experience life before you settle down to being an exclusive couple. Jumping the gun only leads to bitterness and resentment later on in the relationship. Best of luck to you.

Not at all. My first boyfriend was 35, and I was 15. Your difference is only 6 years, and if you love her, age shouldn't matter whatsoever. If you love eachother, don't pay attention to what your friends are saying.

dont worry about it. you should try it out and see how it goes. if its not gonna work like your friend say, then you will find out. dont just assume its not gonna work. if you like him and he likes you go for it. Im 18 and my boyfriend is gonna be 26.
