It usually takes time and patience. I have two new kittens myself. My older cats, at first, didn't seem to appreciate their being around. But I make sure I give all the kitties an equal amount of love and food and it did take awhile, but they seem to tolerate each other now. Even caught one of my older kitties bathing one of the kittens.

It takes time to introduce new animals into an already setup group, you need to take things slowly. Give the kittens a room, like a bathroom or something and let the other cats get use to the smell and the sound of the kittens. Later you should let the kittens out and lock the other cats somewhere and so the kittens can get use to the smell of your cats. The slower you take it the better, and soon you can have face to face meeting with at least one of the cats and the kittens supervised of course. As time goes on they will figure out who is in charge and what the rules for the house are. They may never love each other but they may tolerate each other. I think after a couple weeks everything will be worked out.

Takes about 1 month to be fully integrated with the herd. Some suggestions:
1. Cats are territorial. Don't mess with the litter or the food of the old cats, i.e., do not move their crap to make room for the kittens' crap because that's their most prized territory.
2. Introduce them gradually, like put a kitten on one side of a closed door and the old cat on the other side, so they can get each other's smell and know there is something there. Then, let them be in the same room for a short amount of time before moving them away. Then eventually you can finally let them roam.
3. Rub the old cat and the new cat with a towel and let them smell it so they can get used to their scents intermingling.
4. Make sure you keep petting the old cats. Also, feed them treats, cuz when they're full they don't care about hissing just napping in the sun.
As long as you make it so the new cats aren't a 'threat' to the old cats, you'll be fine.

Cats are territorial animals. They see this as a foreign invasion. When we introduced a new cat to my older cat, it was a slow process. We put the new kitten in the bathroom with food, water, and litterbox for about a week so she could adjust to her new surroundings. She and my other cat fought for a couple weeks, but eventually they got along. Have patience and supervise their meetings to make sure they don't fight too much. Good luck!

Oh my gosh...I should have asked this question! Last Jan. we had to put down our 15 yr old male cat. Our little 6 yr old female cat missed him and we had the chance to adopt 2 kitties that my daughter's boyfriend's family couldn't keep.
It has been over 6 mos. and the 3 still don't get along!! The 6 yr old female just hisses at them and she and the male have gotten into numerous fights. Then the other female will try to get into it.
We are thinking that they will never all get along, and just try to make the best of it because we aren't getting rid of any of them. It's been a real headache. Sorry not to have any suggestions, but just wanted to share our experience!!

We have one indoor/outdoor cat named Kali that we've had for approx. 9 years. A month ago my brother brought home a stray kitten who we decided to keep as an indoor cat. For awhile Kali owuldn't come inside, and if she did we had to keep kitty locked in a room away from her. Kali will now come inside, but she still hisses, although I don't worry near as much. It all depends on the cats, let them work on it on their own, eventually they will get used to each other. As for an amount of time.... It is different depending on the cats.
