No.
Since when has oil hunger been a good cause?
The attack on iraq and afghanistan was planned long before 9/11.
Iraq had never even threatened US. A sovereign country invaded by oil hungry americans? I think so.
A pullout now would be worse than the invasion in terms of civilian life lost. Also don't forget the oil.

I am currently in Iraq for a second year of my life. Do you realize what giving up 2 years of your life in some mudhole is like? Very few of the soldiers choose or want to be away from family or the US. Most would agree that we are doing what needs to be done, if I have to come here for a 3rd time I will. The Iraqi people thank us daily for what we are trying to help them do.

The 'bad guys' are trying to make a new super power, by dominating the governments of Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Syria (not to mention the Saudi Peninsula and Somalia). Look at a map, if they succeed they will be the new super power under a Taliban government. (oh, and they will control the world oil).

And speaking on oil - I see the oil trucks daily, they are under control of the local government - there is no US control of any oil here.

~ sorry for the ranting, but it is frustrating that so many Americans have such way off views of what is going on over here.

Cheers!

I believe the middle east is where conflict will continue for years to come. Having boots on the ground there could expedite the need to move troops where the action is, should a new conflict arise.

It certainly gives country's such as Syria and Iran some concern. Knowing that a large, battle hardened and well equipped American force is just a stones throw away, should they decide to challenge the US resolve.

Sadly, soldiers are expendable, and they know that going in to these hot zones. We cannot let that fact deter our commitment to defeating a people who would attack the US, if given half a chance.

When you say these conditions....well that is what war is, people die in war, and every soldier knows that is the price we pay for freedom. Yes their blood is buying our freedom. We are forcing the enemy to fight us in their country so we can be safe and live free in ours. Would you rather we withdraw, and wait till they come to our door to fight? Bill Clinton did that as a policy, let them attack the USS Cole, embassies in Africa and even the first attack on the WTC. When a president who would go after them came into power, they again struck hard, thinking we would wait. THe fact we can walk down our streets and not worry about a suicide bomber is the fact they have to keep their combatants at home since that is where our forces are, and their blood, gives you the right to post questions like this.

The more I read, the more I know that we have the world's worst Education System. Apparently we have spent thousands of millions on teachers' salaries and retirements and we have educated very few.

Running a country, any country, is not like running a sewing circle. A President has certain responsibilities and also certain limitations.

HE CANNOT ALWAYS DO WHAT HE WANTS TO DO. In our country he has to obey a document called The Constitution and he has to listen to a group of people called the Congress. When he tries to do something he also has to pay attention to how a group called the Supreme Court wants it done.

In addition to trying to work with all of those people I mentioned, he also has to listen to people ( most of whom have no idea about how to do anything) and also some crack-pots like that "Cyndy" creature.

If he can do one tenth of all of those things without losing his marbles, then he is a real President. If he can't, then he concentrates on satisfying his female interns.

How many miracles do you want from a guy that the Constitution say "has to be 35 years old and only has to have been born here"?

Yes. Sometime we need to have war in order to keep the peace. Do some research and look at the numbers of soldiers killed in all the American wars. Many hundreds of thousands. This war has lost very few Americans in contrast. America is doing the right thing. It takes backbone to run a country. Someone had to make the hard/unpopular decisions. Do you want our great country overrun with bombings like the Cole, the FIRST World Trade Center Bombing, and the latest one which destroyed the Twin Towers? Do not forget. And do not forget the innocent American civilians that were murdered. If it was your family (and it is, in a way) you'd expect and probably demand our country to answer that attack.

You cannot let terrorists rule. We must respond to their actions.

We need to show support and pray for President Bush, our brave and wonderful Troops, and for America.

We should continue what we are doing. We are fighting against a real threat - world terrorism. Do you really think incidents like what happened last week in England would go away if we pull out of Iraq? Of course not! We are in this for the long haul and need to show the terrorists that we mean it when we say we are going to ultimately win!

No way! We went a long time with little problem's from the middle east. Back in the day we had a government that had the right people who knew how to use diplomacy to keep the peace and get what we wanted. All the dirty little secrets that Bush keeps has lead us to where we are today. This county needs a leader not a decider. This administration is a joke. Its the blind leading the blind. And we are all the fools for letting it happen. America land of the free and clueless!

Why don't you ask the SOLDIERS themselves. How would you like it if somebody constantly bashed you on your job and acted as if you were not doing something important - my brother is a Marine and he would have a field day with this question. They are there because they WANT to be. They actually believe that freeing the US and the rest of the world against disgusting terrorist groups is a pretty damned important thing - don't you?

***lightening goddess - thank your husband for his service - we need all the good people we can get! God bless!

Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines have indeed fallen in the course of our current conflict, but their deaths are not honored by retreat. Despite the political agendas of individual countries, the military members, Coalition and indigenous, died fighting for a good cause. Establishing local governance that respects human life and provides the safety, security, education, and prosperity needed for success is of prime importance. It is not an easy road and many will lose their lives in the process. Over 150 police and federal law enforcement officers died in the line of duty last year in the United States. Would you support an end to law enforcement because of the losses? Yes I am comparing separate situations, but I wanted to illuminate the fact that losses do occur in establishing and maintaining the peace. Keep those who fight for peace in your mind as you go about your daily lives, for their efforts and sacrifices are what give us hope for the future.
