I had highlighted my hair a month ago (it had lots of blonde & red), and I wanted to go back to my natural color, which is a dark brown. So I just colored it with a semi-permanent color and it turned out almost black!! I dont know what to do. It is already double-processed, and dry. If I keep shampooing it all day, do you think it will lighten up by this evening. I look like a vampire!!

i put a product called Colorfix on it last night from Sally's Beauty Supply. I lightened it about 1 level and it looks better and it actually feels and looks healthier and shinier than when I started!! I highly recommend it!

Try shampooing with Dawn dish detergent or clothes detergent with very warm water, be careful of your eyes and deep condition afterward. Remember too a semi permenant will lighten some after a couple weeks. In the future if going from light to dark, try a shade lighter than you would like the end result to be, the semi perm was a good choice but spray on a leave in conditioner before coloring, dry or processed hair grabs color.

Chrissy,
There is nothing wrong with having black hair. Before I buzz mine off every year and a half or so, it is jet black. I would never tell anyone to not shave their head, but you can find some measure less drastic, like going to a salon and finding out if they can fix the color issue. It may cost a little bit, but most girl don't want to be bald either (me excluded). Worst case, if they tell you they can't do anything with it, maybe a short bob or pixie cut will get rid of the black length and then soon the brown hair you want will grown back. Just another idea to think about.
Good Luck!

Obviously, you don't know what you are doing and it can cause you more problems (like hair loss) because you are putting too many things in your hair. Go to the hair dresser and let them do it right and let them deep condition your hear to give it back the healthy look. You are damaging your hair with all the colors you are putting in, especially in such a short period of time and if you keep shampooing often, it will dry it out even more. Good luck.

Do a series of protein conditioning treatments, shampooing in between. Protein will help pull color out of hair without damaging it. Make sure you use a good moisturizing conditioner at the end.

Leave it alone.
Don't try anymore chemicals on it and try to keep the blow drying and heating profucts to a minimum.
You should try to condition your hair really good.
As far as the hair color goes. it'll get lighter with time. Just leave it alone and don't rush it. The more you rush the more damage you're going to cause.

if u shampooing, depends what shampoo you use, u will dry it more!... so what i recommend you to do its to wait for 2 - 3 weeks and use a lot of conditioner... so ur hair will gain shine and it will become more natural.. after that, colored into brown... and u will see with time it will get ur color.

i dyed mine in april and it was super dark and in just about two weeks it had lightened A LOT. in about a month some of the blonde i had covered was showing through...now it looks light brown with a hint of dark blonde highlights...
mine also looked black.
time will fade it.
just stick it out.

I'm no hair expert, but at this point it's better to go to a salon and leave it to the professionals. You could serioulsy damage your hair by further processing it at home.
