Why do people die?

Romans 5:12-"That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned."
Adam and Eve sinned before they had children. Hence sin is an inheritance everyone get's from them.
Romans 6:23-23-"For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord."
So since we all inherited sin - the wages sin pays is death.

The human mind can only take so much of something, that includes joy and happiness. After some time it is so full of memories and clutter that it may interfere with normal functioning.


And what of the even greater population explosion if humans did not die?
Fresh life means fresher ideas and in the long run for the better.

It's part of the cycle and the natural balance of life. Things have to die so other things can live.

The cells get gummed up in the continued replication cycle and after a time they can no long sustain life. That is the simplest answer I can give you about the physical life. Metaphysically? You live until your soul decided it has done all it can do.

It is appointed unto man once to die, and then the judgment. God set mans days at 120 years. Most of us never quite make it that long.
