2000 calories a day is the RDA I believe, for an average person. A little more for men, maybe a little less for women.

It also depends on your activity level of course, but we're just talking averages here.

It actually depends upon your current weight, height, BMI and type of activity. It also depends on whether you want to maintain or lose weight. If I look back to your question "normal person" , I would say between 1800-2000 calories per day. Best Idea is to visit www.mypyramid.gov . It will ask you about your current diet and then give you weather it is optimum diet in context to all nutrients.

2,000 calorie should be the normal intake for daily caloric intake everyday... Anymore than that and you start gaining more weight.

about 2000 to be healthy. it is always good to excersize a bit as much as you can.
